Green & Gold Gala
Raises Thousands!

The Green and Gold Gala, presented by McConkey Insurance and Benefits and the Saint Patrick Fund for Catholic Education, was a successful night of support for the York Catholic Fund. Through live and silent auctions, student experience sponsorships, event sponsorships, and ticket sales, the event raised approximately $80,000! This will enable York Catholic to invest in tuition assistance for those in need, a vibrant curriculum, technology upgrades, the arts and athletics, resources for our teachers, and the beautification and safety of our school.

We are very thankful to our sponsors: McConkey Insurance & Benefits, Saint Patrick Fund for Catholic Education, Maple Donuts, Inc., McDonald's of Memory Lane, CGA Law Firm, and Good News Electric. With special thanks to Dennis '81 and Rosie Johnson for sponsoring the wine for the evening. It was truly a remarkable outpouring of generosity. Thank you!

This event is not possible without the time, talent, and support of our dedicated community, volunteers, and staff. With special thanks to the following parents who coordinated silent auction baskets for each class: Sue Basile, Kim Keesee, Mondi Sterling, Anne Smith, Eileen McKeague, Misty Durbin, and Beth Brennan. Thank you for your creativity and leadership. The Silent Auction netted $10,000! THANK YOU!
Give Local York
On Friday, May 3, York Catholic will participate in the 2nd Annual Give Local York campaign.  Give Local York is a 24-hour online giving spree to benefit hundreds of York County nonprofits. The goal is simple -- to inspire members of the York County community to show their pride and contribute to the life-changing work of local nonprofits. It's easy to show your support, just visit www.givelocalyork.org on May 3 between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM EST, search for York Catholic High School, and donate. Your donations will go even further because YC will have the opportunity to take advantage of Stretch Pool funds made available by generous community sponsors. Thank you for supporting our YC students and school on May 3 and throughout the year!
Tuition Assistance Deadline Monday
You will receive an email tomorrow regarding tuition rates and fees for the 2019-20 school year. If you plan to apply for tuition assistance, your complete paperwork must be submitted by this Monday, April 15. Please click on the following documents for information and/or completion:
Mission Collection
Our mission collection on Wednesday, April 17, will support the Holy Infant Hands Orphanage in the Dominican Republic through St. Mary's Parish in York. The parish provides physical nourishment and care, and works toward improving the lives of the children. Thanks to the generosity of those who support their work, new ceiling tiles and kitchen cabinets were installed.  The children now have faucets for the showers, doors on the bathroom stalls, and the sinks have been repaired.  The wooden doors and door frames have also been replaced by metal since they resist termites.  Sister Marilyn and Sister Enriqueta thank us for our generosity!
Open House
Our current families and students are an important piece of our promotion of student enrollment. Please help spread the word that York Catholic is hosting a Spring Open House on Wednesday, May 1, from 6-7:30 PM. Prospective junior high and senior high students and their families are welcome to tour the school, meet students and staff, as well as hear from the experts -- our current parents -- who will be mingling with our guests and sharing information on their positive YC experiences.  E ncourage your friends to pre-register for Open House at www.yorkcatholic.org. For more information, contact Ms. Heather Hoffman at 717-846-8871 x220.

We are happy to announce Kathryn Rader has been named Valedictorian and Luke Motter has been named Salutatorian for the Class of 2019. Using grades through the third quarter of senior year, they have a cumulative grade point average that ranks them first and second among their classmates. Katy is the daughter of R. Joseph and Dyan Rader and Luke is the son of Leo and Tina Motter. Congratulations Katy and Luke!
Coffee House
Senior High students are welcome to come out to the YC Coffee House on Friday, April 12, at 7 PM for a night of student music and creative performances.  The price of admission to the Coffee House is one non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.

Revised Easter Break Schedule
As a result of the inclement weather and snow days we've used, it was necessary to adjust our Easter schedule to make-up some of the days we missed. Please note the following changes:

Wednesday, April 17
School will now be in session for the full day.

Thursday, April 18 (Snow Make-up Day)
School will be in session for a half day with dismissal scheduled for 11:30 AM. School districts will run their pick-up earlier to accommodate our students. There will be no supervision available in the building after 11:30 AM. Any students remaining after dismissal will need to call a parent or guardian for pick-up.

Friday, April 19
School will be closed.

Monday, April 22 (Snow Make-up Day)
School will now be in session for the full day.
Service Hours Due
Service Hours for the 2018-2019 school year are due soon!  Seniors need to submit all of their hours by Monday, April 15. The 7th through 11th grade hours are due Monday, April 29.  Corporal works of mercy are an important part of Christian life, and our life as a YC community.  Keep an eye out for service opportunities from now until the due dates if you are in need of doing a bit more.
Earth Day Activities
In honor of Earth Day (April 22), we will have our Earth Day Campus Clean-up on Saturday, April 20, from 9-11 AM at YC.  Students should meet on the front lawn by the main parking lot. We'll be walking around the school grounds cleaning up litter and trash, so good shoes and proper clothing are recommended. Service hours will be given to those who participate. Students do not need to sign-up.

The YC Stewards of the Earth Club are encouraging students to spend a dollar to wear a green shirt in honor of Earth Day on Monday, April 22.  Money will be collected in homeroom and will go towards sponsoring lion cubs. In previous years, we have adopted 2 manatees (2017) and 3 red pandas (2018).  During all lunches Monday, there will be activities and games for students, including voting on names for the lion cubs we sponsor.  Students get 4 votes for a dollar, and if they're wearing a green shirt, they'll get 4 free votes.
Congratulations Drum Majors

Congratulations to Moses Krueger, Senior Drum Major, and the newly elected Junior Drum Major, Mason Kovach, for the 2019-2020 Marching Band Season!

The meetings usually last approximately one hour and everyone's input and feedback are welcomed and appreciated. Your help in planning and implementing the efforts of the YCMA are critical.
