For years I stopped the joy in my life because I complicated my life.
I had too many irons in the fire; as a result, I was not able to give any of them my full attention. It was like trying to keep fifteen plates all spinning at the same time. It was not only exhausting, it was stealing my peace and joy.
"
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will."
(Romans 12:2, NIV)
Encouragement for When You're
Down or Depressed
Dr. Michelle Bengtson
When I was in the depths of my depression, I needed HOPE! I needed to be reminded of God's character and that despite my feelings, I could trust God to see me through any situation. If I can give you one piece of advice, it's to not trust your feelings because our feelings are really just the outward manifestation of the thoughts we believe.
Instead, trust the Word of God, which is truth. That is why I advocate so strongly for memorizing and reciting His promises, so that we can combat the lies of the enemy with God's truth. It's always our best defense.
