A MESSAGE FROM MRS. STALLMANN
Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

What a difference a week makes! We had such beautiful spring weather—students were going outside without coats. And then the snow fell. There is more snow predicted on Sunday night so please watch the weather and have students bring clothing that makes recess times bearable.

We will be holding a State of the School meeting on May 14 from 5:30-6:20 in the Fr. Alan room. Please enter via the courtyard side of the school and enter through the Fr. Alan room doors located on the right side of the courtyard at the top of the three concrete steps.

Please note that the last day of school, June 7, is a 10:00 am dismissal. We will gather together as a school family for an 8:00 am mass and then the students will have an hour after mass in their classrooms.

ITBS individual student scores will be given out on Thursday, April 18, to the 3 rd, 5 th, and 7 th graders. Please look for them in your child’s backpacks.

As I have talked about in earlier news notes; the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is moving classrooms towards standard based grades which they believe provides parents and students with specific feedback on each learning standard. Since the focus of instruction is on mastery for students, they will have more than one opportunity to demonstrate mastery. Feedback from assessments tell students what learning goals they have mastered and what they still need to work on. Students “own” their learning which creates a culture of learning that is more engaging for students and embraces learning as the goal. You will also see these learning standards on the report cards in future years.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs. Stallmann

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ST. ALPHONSUS FORENSICS TEAM!

Congratulations to the St. Alphonsus forensics team for taking 5th place in the “large” division at the State meet on Saturday, April 6th, at West Bend High School.

This is the school’s first ever trophy as a “large” entry (previous State accolades came as a “medium” or “small” entry). For context, there were 22 total “large” schools, and the competition is stiff at the “large” level.

As far as individual awards, Joey K. took 1st place in poetry, and Gabe T. earned 2nd place in storytelling. Erin G., Alex B. , and the duo of Vivian G. & Ava D. all made the “power round” (playoff round).

Thus ends a highly successful season!
