The social work program on the Polytechnic Campus hosted a luncheon April 19 to honor graduating seniors and the program’s agency partners, who provide field placements for the students in their final semester. 
Kansas State Polytechnic has received more recognition for its variety of educational offerings in unmanned aircraft systems, this time being featured in an article about drone education for the Chronicle of Higher Education.
When you wear purple on Fridays, there are several participating businesses in Salina that give patrons a discount.

Scholarship opportunities
Study Abroad
If you are interested in studying abroad in the Summer 2018 semester, the $5,000 Gilman scholarship is now open. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen who is pell grant eligible and who will do a study abroad program that is longer than 3 weeks. Air Traffic Control Association awards 10 scholarships worth $75,000 to aviation students. Available to both part-time and full-time students. DEADLINE: May 1
Sophomore Students
The ACT Foundation is offering the ACT Second Year scholarship. It is available to those students who will be sophomores in 2018-2019. DEADLINE: May 1
Kansas Residents
The Board of Regents offers scholarships to Kansas residents. K-State Polytechnic students have received the Kansas State Scholarship, Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship and the Kansas Military Service Scholarship in the past. Deadline to apply is May 1
Regional Airline Association is offering four $4,000 scholarships to aviation students. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. DEADLINE: May 7
The Paul A. Whelan Aviation scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship open to any aviation major. Must be a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 2.5. DEADLINE: May 15
Pilot Students
AOPA is offering a number of scholarships for students to use for flight costs. There are scholarships for primary flight training and advance ratings (instrument, commercial, CFI, CFII, multi) DEADLINE: May 2
Summer School Students

Kudos, publications and presentations
Siny Joseph, assistant professor of economics, is being honored with the Marchbanks Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence and Andrew Smith, aviation maintenance management professor and option coordinator, is receiving the Rex McArthur Family Faculty Fellow Award.
