Tell It To Two

Tell It To Two is a challenge to all members to pray for the salvation of two people and to pray for the opportunity to tell those two people the gospel.

My progress is slow as I don't really work outside the home: I tutor students from my house. But I was recently able to host a Premier jewelry party that is Christian based and share the gospel with 2 ladies. I also invited the moms of the students I work with to the ladies retreat and I passed out flyers to a few people for Easter. Also, met some new faces in bible study that don't have a home church so I invited them to ours. -Kris Fehrenbacher

We'd love to hear your Tell It To Two updates and prayer requests! Email [email protected]

I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Philemon 6

Student Ministry News
by Greg Burney

We had an amazing week of Heroes Camp! I want to first and foremost give a huge shout out to all the
people who put in so much hard work to make this year's camp a huge success! We had over 30 adults
and around 60 students put in time to make sure the 246 kids who attended not only had a great week but also heard the Gospel and lives were changed! Thanks to everyone who took part in Heroes Camp!

Up next for HHSM is our first ever VBS in the Park! We will take over Whispering Hollow Park July 9-13 during the evenings. We will offer Gospel centered lessons and fun games and crafts for the kids who attend. Our goal is to reach families in our community who need to hear the Gospel. If you live near the church and you are willing to put a yard sign out advertising this even please let me know!

Summer camp at Snowbird is coming up quick! If your student would like to go we have a few spots left!   Contact me asap if you think your student is interested!

We will meet this week for Bible Heroes and Bad Guys. We will be in Building A from  6:45 pm to 8 pm.

Registration for Missions Camp ( July 20-22) is open!

You can register and find all the important details  budamissionscamp.com

We are in need of help with camp. We need adult chaperones (about 16) to help us disciple the kids all weekend. We also need a medical professional to spend the weekend with us (RN, PA, MD, EMT, etc.).  On Saturday we need a lifeguard for a few hours while the kids swim. If you or someone you know is interested please let me know!

Once the fall comes, we are also looking for more (9) AWANA handbook leaders. AWANA kicks off on  August 29th, and goes all school year with breaks for holidays. If you are interested in serving or know someone who is please let me know.

I am praying for you and your families every week! We are so grateful to have your children as a part of our ministry!

The vacation was glorious!  Thanks again Hays Hills for giving Melissa and me a vacation of a lifetime!

The scenery was breathtaking everyday!  We went early to explore a little of British Columbia and then cruised to Alaska seven days.  Then we spent two days exploring Anchorage area, including a wildlife refuge.  I loved the cooler temps!

Tensions in church life:  (continued)

1)  The tension between prayer and action.

The early church was devoted to prayer and saw life through praying first.  We are supposed to pray without ceasing, on all occasions and about everything for  "the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer..." (1 Peter 3:12)  But balanced with prayer is obedience to God's word.  The Bible says to be doers of the word and not merely hearers of it.

When do we pray and when do we act?  How about pray about when and what to do, and pray while doing it and pray for more wisdom after doing it?

2)  The tension between becoming all things to all men and being salt and light.

The Apostle Paul said that he could relate to any number of people with different cultural backgrounds (1 Corinthians 9)  He didn't fully become what they were culturally, but could relate to them from their perspective.  This takes love and a consuming passion for the gospel.  But Paul also called on believers to stand out from the darkness like the stars of heaven (Philippians 2:15) and to not get inordinately bound to worldly values and movements (2 Corinthians 6).  Jesus said we are the salt of the earth, whose savor cannot be replaced by any earthly power.  Salt penetrates, agitates, preserves and adds savor.

As we do everything we can to show love that goes so far as to relate to people respectfully regardless of their backgrounds, may our love be more than "sloppy agape!"  May our love go so far as to speak the truth about the gospel and about morality, for "love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth."

From Pastor Aaron

William Carey (1761-1834), the father of the modern missions movement, famously wrote, "Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God." Carey of all people knew that attempting great things for God is never easy, but is always worth it.

Village of Hope in Uganda has followed in Carey's footsteps as they have sought to bring healing and hope through the love and grace of Jesus Christ to those orphaned by the brutal attacks of Josephy Kony and his army. It is a noble task and one we've all known wouldn't be easy.

In recent days they have faced a difficult setback; opposition Satan would certainly like to use to undermine the mission of VoH. Some students within one of the villages, having been influenced by cultish leaders, turned against the staff and caused a scene.

Be in prayer for Cindy and Rose, the VoH board, and the entire leadership of VoH as they seek to demonstrate both God's justice and His mercy in the days ahead. Pray for what the enemy intended for evil to be used by God to strengthen the Christian witness of VoH to those watching in Uganda.
Prayer Updates

The Cathey Family is returning to the mission field. Pray for them as they depart: for their children who would like to be in the US to see the need in their host nation and for the parents as they grapple with the reality that the decisions they have made have ramifications for their kids. Ask the Lord to confirm their calling and encourage them in their mission.

Pray for Cathie Cool and her family as they grieve the death of her brother. Ask for great grief to be met with even greater grace.

Carolyn Wirth recovering from surgery.

Rose Yancey, Rebekah Burton's mom and a member (who is a paraplegic) is recovering from surgery to help fight an infection.  She will return to Legend Oaks after hospital.

Gene Burkland's dad (84) was run over by his tractor and sustained multiple broken bones, lacerations and many stitches.  He is recovering from jaw surgery also.

Kris Fehrenbacher's father in North Dakota, is recovering from extensive surgery for colon cancer.

Congrats to Jayme Waggoner on her son Chris' completion of four years in the Navy.  He will be entering civilian life soon.

Also remember our other 'kids' in the military: Nick Sweeney and Kiana Cota (Kiana graduated from basic training this past week!)
