Greetings!

Our Summer for Others event is on May 27! Have you signed up yet?

This year, we are gearing up to help those in need during the season of summer.

With children out of school, they are not receiving the regular breakfasts and lunches that the schools provide and often these same children are left to provide as best as they can on their own at home while both parents work to make ends meet.

Help us to provide simple to prepare food for children at Conroe's Crisis Assistance Center at 4:30 p.m. Afterwards, cool off at the Conroe Aquatic Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as we celebrate with the families receiving the food. We will be able to spend some time getting to know them and their children in a more personal way.

See more details below! To sign up, click here.

Frank and Elizabeth Acosta Named New Pastors for CelebraciĆ³n

On June 3, First Methodist Conroe's Hispanic congregation, CelebraciĆ³n, will welcome Frank and Elizabeth Acosta as their leading pastors.

The married couple began their ministry as pastors in Cuba where they worked at two different churches for eight years. They moved to Texas in 2015 and began to serve as pastors at Fairbanks United Methodist Church one year later.

While at Fairbanks UMC, Frank and Elizabeth have strived to make an emphasis to reach out to the community.

"One of the things we do is identify the condominiums near the church and establish a connection with the managers, and if they open the doors of the place we do monthly activities for the children where we provide Bible teachings, games, and food. Also, we go to Home Depot and places where there are people looking for work and we bring them breakfast early in the morning and pray for them," says Frank.

To Frank and Elizabeth, touching people's hearts and teaching them that Jesus loves them is something very important in their ministry.

They now hope to bring their passion for teaching, preaching, and leadership training to First Methodist Conroe.

"When we see people crying receiving physical and spiritual food, we realize that our mission is not limited to only congregate people in the temple. We need to take Jesus out of this place!"

The Acostas both have degrees in Theology. They have been married for 13 years and were recently blessed with a son named Josue.
FMC's Summer Youth Interns

We are excited to have two interns who will be serving in our Student Ministry this summer!  They will be formally introduced to our students at our Upper Room Celebration Night on May 20. We know that each of these interns will be a great asset to our Student Ministry this summer and we pray that they themselves will grow deeper in their faith and be blessed by this experience. Please be sure and say hello to these amazing young women when you see them in the hallway and welcome them into our church family!
Lauren Brabson

Lauren is coming to us from Texas A&M University where she is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will graduate in December 2018.  Lauren is very involved in the Wesley Foundation on campus and currently serves there as the Chairman of the Student Council. She is excited about spending her summer with our students, helping them to grow deeper in their faith and using her gifts of leadership and service.
Courtney Nettles

Courtney is a familiar face in our Nursery where she currently serves and cares for our infants and younger children.  Courtney is a graduate of Conroe High School and currently attends Lone Star College. She is majoring in Education and will be attending Sam Houston State University in the fall.   She is looking forward to building positive relationships with our students and planning events where they can come together for fellowship and also learn about God's grace..
