NATIONAL NEWS

BREAKING | New Art Fund from CBC and Canada Council Announced
"Art Uncontained" is a new initiative announced on April 21, connecting Canadian artists and art lovers that includes original programming from CBC Arts and across the CBC network, as well as a new artist fund in partnership with the Canada Council for the Arts.
Federal Funding Increase for Arts & Culture Announced 
PM Trudeau announces targeted help for some hard-hit sectors on April 17. Announcements include providing $500 million to Heritage Canada to aid workers in the arts, culture, and sports sectors.
The Fund is meant for organizations that can't qualify for the existing wage subsidy because of the lumpy or irregular nature of their revenues as well as to cover contract workers. The Fund will also provide advances on future grants and contributions to help maintain liquidity as well as small subsidies to cover some fixed costs.

Featuring the "Legacy of a Pandemic Project"
The St. Catharines Museum is looking to collect journal or diary entries, creative writing, or photographic representations of how the current global pandemic has affected you, your family, and your community.  What are your stories and experiences as society shuts down around us and we work to fight off this invisible enemy?

THE NIAGARA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Appalachian Spring 
On April 25 & 26 the Niagara Symphony was scheduled to perform Aaron Copland's quintessential American work, Appalachian Spring in its original chamber configuration for 13 performers as part of the N. Walker Chamber Orchestra Series. While they are not able to share this incredible work with you in person, they have developed a number of resources to help guide your listening experience.

St. Catharines City Council requested the creation of the Rodman Hall Task Force in 2019 to provide information and recommendations to Council regarding the City's role in the future of Brock University's Rodman Hall building and grounds, and the art collection that is housed in the facility.

Breaking | Canada Council Announces Digital Origins Fund
Available to artists, groups or organizations that can either adapt their existing work or create a new work for digital dissemination to the Canadian public during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Digital Originals offers a $5,000 micro innovation grant from the Canada Council.
CBC Announces Creative Relief Fund
Deadline is TODAY, Friday, April 24. 
CBC announced $2 million for new content in a variety of familiar CBC programming areas (scripted content, podcasts, docs, etc.). There's even a special funding stream for playwrights, too.
