Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,

The Barrow County School System is proud to announce that the Barrow Board of Education has attained the achievement and status of the Georgia School Boards Association's (GSBA) 2018 Exemplary School Board recognition.

The recognition program was designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.

The Barrow County School Board met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn this honor of a 2018 Exemplary Board. The criteria may be reviewed by clicking here for more information.

The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education's standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership.

In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education.

The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-year, three tiered program. For more information on the program you may visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition or click here to view the criteria for all tiers of the program.

Food 2 Kids Donation

ReaderLink's Associates are a long-time supporter of Barrow's Food 2 Kids program. BCSS Food 2 Kids program serves over 200 students who struggle with food insecurity on the weekends. We deeply appreciate this generous donation of $362.10 which will sponsor one child and a portion of another child for the 2018-19 school year. $275 sponsors one child each school year.

We appreciate the leadership of Gwen Tyree and Matt Waters with several associates as they coordinated "special break snacks" that were sold a quarter at a time to raise this generous amount. ReaderLink is the largest full-service distributor of hardcover, trade, and paperback books to non-trade channel booksellers in North America. ReaderLink Associates understand the essential connection of feeding and fueling a child's body in order to feed a child's mind. Books and food are necessary school tools for student success!
