COLLEGIUM ANCORA PERFORMANCE
of Handel's "Israel in Egypt"

Sunday, May 5
5pm
Grace Episcopal Church
300 Westminster St.
Providence, RI 02903

This glorious oratorio (large-scale narrative musical work for orchestra and voices) vividly portrays the story of Israel's deliverance from bondage in Egypt, and is widely considered to contain Handel's finest choral music. Presented in partnership with Temple Beth-El in Providence, it was last performed in Rhode Island 16 years ago. Collegium Ancora will be joined for this performance by a chamber orchestra made up of musicians from the RI Philharmonic. The engaging text of the piece calls our attention to oppression and injustice that continues today, at home and abroad.
