Principal's Message
SCIS Parents,

I hope you will watch the video above regarding the following details:

1. Fine Arts Festival
Tomorrow and Saturday December 1st we having our district fine arts festival at LHS. Please look for communication from your child's Fine Arts Teacher for the details.

3. Principal's Coffee:
On Friday, December 7th, at 9:00 a.m. we will be hosting  Sarah Pierson who is the community educator at the collin county youth advocacy center. She does a great presentation on how to keep your students safe online and what to be aware of at home in terms of the internet.  This is a presentation you don't want to miss~

Parenting The Digital Generation- Sarah Pierson- December 7th @ 9:00 a.m.
This course informs parents and caregivers on how to protect children as they navigate the digital world. The program covers the four biggest risks for children online and the conversations you need to be having with them. Recommendations will be given on how you may utilize technology to better protect your children.

4. Students Recording Videos at school:
Does your child have a TikToK account/app?  We have been speaking to our students to remind them that we do not allow students to video each other (or themselves) at school.  Right now the popular app is called TikTok which I would spend some time looking at your child's account to ensure they are monitored.

Click above to purchase your child a lunch on our half day student social held on     Wednesday, December 19th. Our cafeteria will not be serving lunch this day.

6: LHS Half Days and Checking Out Early:
Just a reminder that we will have full instructional days each day until December 19th. Due to exams the high school has half days on December 14th-19th. However, our only half day is December 19th,  when we will have our student social.  At the intermediate level we do not have class parties or  "free days" before break.  I know most students will have a major Q2 test grade in the final week of school, so please refrain from starting the break early. Checking your child out of school early makes it difficult for them to make up this learning after a two week break when we return January 7th.

7. School Starts January 7th:
Please note all schools other than the high school will return Monday,  January 7th, 2019

With an Attitude of Gratitude,

Ray Winkler

Giving our troops a great holiday
As the holidays approach, we all reflect on our blessings.
Our family would like to recognize a small military intelligence unit of 75 soldiers (65 men and 10 women), deployed in the Middle East. They play a critical role in keeping thousand of soldiers as safe as possible.  In their challenging surroundings, far from home, morale can become low. We would like to show our gratitude by sending a stuffed stocking to each of these brave men and women.  We cannot do this alone, we need your help!
We are looking for any small items that will fit in an average sized Christmas stocking. Some ideas would be:
Candy (no chocolate-it melts!)
Gum Snacks
Card Games
Travel Games
Chapstick
Small toiletries (no aerosols please)
T-shirts Socks
Music Gift Cards
Powdered drink mixes
*Handwritten letters and cards would be greatly appreciated!

Our day to day lives are possible because of the brave men and women serving in the military. Please help us show our appreciation for their sacrifice and service.
There will be a collection box set up at each Lovejoy school. Collection days will run through Monday, December 3.
Thank you for your support!

Adopt a Lovejoy Family
We are so thankful to have such wonderful families here in Lovejoy ISD.  Anytime we ask for help you deliver.  We are looking for current Lovejoy Families who would like to extend a warm welcome to families new to Lovejoy.
As you all know, moving to a new place whether it be a new school, district, or state can be a daunting task.  There are many new things to navigate.  We are looking for families who would be willing to serve as a resource for new families by "adopting" a new family and helping them find their way in the community.  This could be by helping steer them in the right direction and through any unfamiliar territory, or by just helping them broaden their contacts. Since you have been in the community and your children have been in Lovejoy ISD, we are considering that you are the experts that just might be able to help with the transition for our new families.  If you are interested please click the link below.

-Create a fun experience - in the past we have had Crawfish boils, private dinners with live entertainment, fishing excursions, hunting excursions, etc.
-A business service,
-Restaurant gift cards (over $25 please)
