The last two Ramblings call for a follow-up. Things don't always work out the way you expect them to, or the way they are painted in a Rambling! While my stories about a butterfly and a struggling baseball team noted that, they have both continued to prove the point!  

 

Our butterfly friend never did fly. I did some research and learned that once the wings dry crooked, they don't straighten out. The advice on a website devoted to raising butterflies suggested the options were to euthanize the butterfly or keep it as a pet. We kept it, of course. The butterfly continued to have some issues holding on to branches and plants, however. The fall that led to the bent wings was repeated many, many times. That also meant the butterfly wasn't able to eat very efficiently. I learned how to hold the butterfly safely above a mixture of honey and water, and then how to gently extend its curled proboscis into the liquid until it began to eat.

Each of our Palm Sunday services will begin with the Procession of the Palms into our worship spaces. If you will be attending the 5:30 pm service at St. Ignatius, please meet at the front steps. On Sunday, those attending the 8:00 am service at Christ Church are asked to assemble at the entrance of the church. For both 9:15 am services and 11:15 am worship, we ask that all parishioners please gather at the Lychgate in front of Christ Church. Hosanna!

The Christ Church Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on the front lawn of Christ Church after the 9:15 am Easter Sunday services (April 21). We are asking all who are willing and able to please donate 50 or more FILLED plastic eggs. Please fill eggs with: jelly beans, stickers, temporary tattoos, bubble gum, jaw breakers, mints and tootsie rolls, etc. Donations of filled plastic eggs may be left in the Parish Hall office. Christ Church will be supplying Kugel for this year's Community Passover Seder meal on April 11. Fr. Tom is looking for cooks to help make Kugel for the event - 200 servings worth! Rabbi Rachael has supplied a recipe, and it is not a difficult process, but it is a lot of work and a lot of baking, nonetheless. Join Fr. Spring is here and now it's time to spruce up Christ Church! Join us on Saturday, April 13, at 9:00 am, and help us paint the exterior of the church and clean the interior. No special skills are required -- though we'd love to have some folks who don't mind climbing, to help paint the upper parts of the church exterior. The Christ Church ECW announces that applications are now open for the brand new ECW Scholarship for young  women . This scholarship is available to graduating seniors or those who have graduated from high school and want to further their education. The applicant must be from Glynn or McIntosh County and be an active Episcopalian. The application deadline is April 21, 2019.  For more information, click here.

One of the lighter sides of the Season of Lent is the annual Lent Madness contest, created by Episcopal priest, Fr. Tim Scheneck, which pits saints against one another, to see who will win the "Golden Halo". It's a fun way to learn about these inspirational people and last year's "Golden Halo" winner was Glynn County's own St. Anna Alexander! A recently merged congregation in California was so inspired by the life of this humble woman, that they have named their new church in her honor. Read more here.
