The next River Stewards workday will be held at Jensen River Ranch in support of the River Parkway Trust's Jensen River Ranch Habitat Enhancement Project. Over the winter months, Trust staff and volunteers planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs at Jenson. Planting is an initial step in restoring riparian habitat. Now, we must protect the new plants and help them thrive.
Our June River Stewards workday will include constructing and installing plant cages on the project site. Caging the delicate young plants helps protect them from herbivory, or being eaten by the wildlife that lives on site.
Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a refillable water bottle. Please wear long pants to protect your legs while working in the grass. All equipment will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own work or gardening gloves if able.
Volunteers will meet at the gate to the property located on Rice Road, 600-ft from the intersection with Friant Road. Please carpool as much as possible. Parking is extremely limited.
