 It's Almost Time

A message from the Executive Director

I'm not sure what the ground hogs had to say this year, but I am personally enjoying the longer days, warmer temperatures, and the sights and sounds of spring.

It's been a busy few months at camp as we have had several community groups hosting retreats at Camp he Ho Ha.  We are grateful for the community support and honestly would not be able to meet our annual budget, and provide adapted programs for Albertans with special needs without the revenue from these groups.

With summer camp just around the corner the process of registering campers and hiring summer staff is in full swing in anticipation of spring.  The demand for our summer programs is greater than ever.  Summer camp registration opened on February 6th and in the first 24 hours 505 Albertans with disabilities registered on-line through our website.  Today the majority of our 750 available spaces in one of our 10 summer camps are booked.  This is bittersweet as hundreds of Albertans look forward to their summer holiday because there are many individuals that are not registered and hope that space becomes available and they are taken off a wait list.

From a financial standpoint we remain positive that the Alberta community will step up to the plate in the midst of a challenging and uncertain economic landscape.    I am optimistic with the support of our camp community we will be able to cover the cost of operating our summer programs and facility operations.

We do require your financial support more than ever this year and I encourage you to reach out to see how you too can make a difference.

No one has ever become poor by giving
~Anne Frank~

Thank you for your committed support to our efforts in making a difference in the lives of Albertans with disabilities.

Warm Regards,

Greg Nielsen
Executive Director

Summer Camp
Let the fun begin!
A Legacy of Giving Back

We at Camp He Ho Ha are certainly  excited as we prepare for our 59th year of providing summer camps for individuals with disabilities in Alberta.

As we approach our 60th anniversary I am humbled by those individuals that have come before me and worked so hard to make these programs available in Alberta to over 740 people each year who are looking for a barrier free summer camping experience.

What's Up
Facility Rental Groups

Camp Health, Hope & Happiness on Lake Isle

One of the cornerstones of the Camp Ho Ho Ha business model is our facility rental program.  Throughout the 2019 calendar there are in excess of 55 unique and varied groups booked to stay in our accommodations, access meeting spaces, utilize recreational opportunities, as well as enjoy our meal services.  The rental program generates roughly 25% of our annual budget and is imperative to supporting our summer camp programs for individuals with special needs during the summer.

Many thanks to all the groups that have chosen Camp He Ho Ha in 2019.  Your support is so very much appreciated.

Richard Cender Memorial Charity Golf Tournament

WFG Making a Difference in their Community
We are excited to announce that Camp Health, Hope & Happiness on Lake Isle is the 2019 charity of choice for the WFG Richard Cender Memorial Golf Tournament.  We can't thank the organizing committee enough for their belief in our organization and our summer programs for Albertans with disabilities.  You are making a HUGE difference in the lives of our campers!

The event will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at The Ranch Golf & Country Club West of Edmonton.  We ask that you connect with this amazing event as a hole sponsor, donor of auction prizes or supporter of the event through registering a team of four golfers.

Last year's event held at Eagle Rock Golf and Country club raised $31,805 in support of our 2018 summer camp programs.  With the amazing support of the World Financial Group Family and their community we look forward to surpassing this total this July.  Please help us make this dream come true for Albertans with disabilities.

Camp He Ho Ha and REMAX at West Edmonton Mall

We were fortunate to have wonderful community minded friends supporting our efforts at Camp Health, Hope & Happiness on Lake Isle.  I was introduced to George Van DeWalle of Remax St. Albert a few years ago at a charity golf tournament in support of camp.  It wasn't long into our 18 holes of golf together that I could see that George was a genuine guy with a desire to support community and make a difference for others.

The weekend of February 22nd found us at the REMAX booth in West Edmonton Mall promoting our brand and summer camp programs.  A big Thank you to George and his assistant Karen for their support throughout the weekend as well as the shoppers that stopped by to visit our booth.

Sundance Balloons of Edmonton

Thanks to Travis Sutherly for entering our draw; Sunday night his name was drawn for the hot air balloon ride with Sundance Balloons of Edmonton (prize value of $650).  Many thanks to George Van De Walle for providing this great prize!

Over the past couple years George has been a supporter of 3rd party events in support of Camp He Ho Ha, a donor, a hole sponsor of our Swing FORE Camp, and a wonderful ambassador of camp in the community he serves. Thanks George!
