The next three weeks we will be learning more about the Holy Spirit. How do you receive the Holy Spirit? What is the difference between the baptism and filling of the Holy Spirit?
What does the power of the Holy Spirit do for us? What gifts are still operating in the body of
Christ? What kinds of miracles, signs and wonders are we experiencing today?
The Bible Reading Plan is here . Sunday, we will be welcoming new members and celebrating baptisms. Pastor Mark Rowland will be speaking in all the services except the 11 Contemporary which will be Pastor Matt Howe.
Dear Church Family,

For the past year I have been keeping you updated on a debate in our denomination about how LGBT people are to be included in the life of the church. People within the UMC have widely differing views about whether the United Methodist Church should ordain gay clergy or host same-sex weddings. Both sides have their reasons and the debate has caused hurt, pain and confusion on both sides.

In May 2016, the General Conference delegates voted 428-405 to accept the recommendation of the Council of Bishops to delay a debate on homosexuality and let a commission study the Book of Discipline, our denomination's governing document. The Commission on a Way Forward was established with a specially called General Conference planned for February 2019 to review the proposals and conclusions of the commission.  The Commission has finished its work and passed on three proposals for the Council of Bishops to consider. The first week of May the Bishops finished their work and have brought forward one of the three proposals to be considered by the General Conference.

To help us understand this proposal and the implications for the United Methodist Church's future, Dr. David Watson , Dean of United Theological Seminary, will be here this Sunday evening, May 20 th at 6:30 in the sanctuary. After his talk there will be an opportunity for Q & A.
