Weed Free Baby Campaign Launches!
We are excited to launch an new awareness campaign to help protect babies. View press release. Research reveals that smoking or taking weed in any form while pregnant or breastfeeding can have serious and lasting harmful effects on unborn and newborn babies, including low birth weight, low IQ and brain development issues.  The campaign materials will include radio and digital advertising, social media messages, large posters displayed throughout the community and information posted online at WeedFreeBaby.com, and will help link parents to community resources with the support of 2-1-1 San Joaquin.
Community Impact Report
The First 5 San Joaquin Community Impact Report Dashboard provides in-depth information on the investments we've made over the past fiscal year and the positive, measurable outcomes those investments have had in supporting the healthy development of children ages 0 to 5 and their parents, caregivers and communities.  In 2016-2017, First 5 invested $8.1 million in the community and served nearly 18,000 children, parents, and providers.
Kindergarten Bridge Initiative
Since 2005, First 5 San Joaquin has invested in kindergarten bridge programs to help prepare children for school. During bridge programs, incoming kindergartners become familiar with the school environment, build social and emotional skills, and acclimate to spending time away from parents. A recent evaluation examines the implementation and impact of bridge programs and opportunities for future improvement.  View  Fact Sheet and   Evaluation  Newsletter .
Home Vi sitation Initiative
Evidence-based home visitation programs have been shown to prevent child abuse and neglect, promote school readiness, and improve maternal and child health. Funded programs engage parents as their child's most important teacher, strengthen the parent-child bond, promote positive health outcomes, and connect families to support services.
