Amberley Green Proposal & Feedback Update
Thanks for a great series of Open House events! We were impr
essed with the number of residents who came out to learn more about the recent stu
dies and the JCC proposal, which all potentially impact the future of Amberley Green. Once all feedback has been received, we will summarize what we have learned and share it with residents.
As promised, below are links to the materials made available during Open House sessions. These will also be on display in the lobby of the Municipal Building through June 14.

One Stop Drop
Amberley Village held its 7th Annual One Stop Drop on April 7 from noon - 4 pm. During that time, 85,669 lbs of recycling was collected, representing more than a 17.5 ton increase over last year! 924 vehicles were counted passing through, or more than 200 cars over what passed through in 2018. Volunteers invested 53 hours of work for the event, including members of the Environmental Stewardship Committee, residents, Village staff and recyclers.
Mayor Muething publicly thanked event coordinators Pete Duffy and Kathie Kraemer at the May Council meeting for their efforts, which resulted in raising $1,500 for the Village. Ever gracious, Kathie was sure to thank everyone who played a part - even Mother Nature!

Congratulations, Sergeant Gehring!
Amberley Village Sergeant Brandon Gehring recently graduated from Supervisor Training and Education Program (STEP). STEP is a program designed to develop newly promoted officers into highly effective first line supervisors with the competency skills necessary to leave and supervise in a high performance organization.
To date, over 552 first line supervisors in many police agencies, sheriff's offices, and state agencies have benefited from their STEP experience. Congratulations, Sgt. Gehring!

Welcome to our New Executive Assistant and Clerk of Council
After a four-month search and interview process, Amberley Village is pleased to welcome Tammy Reasoner as its newest addition! Tammy will serve as Executive Assistant to Village Manager Scot Lahrmer, as well as Clerk of Council and the Board of Zoning Appeals. Tammy joins the Village following more than a decade of service to Purcell Marian High School, where she served as the director of marketing & communications. She has also served with the Ohio House of Representatives as a legislative aide.

Everyone loves a good bargain, but how can you ensure a safe exchange of merchandise from local sellers when buying online?
Did you know that Amberley Village hosts a meetup spot where residents can arrange online purchase exchanges?
The space is located on the south side of the Municipal Building just above the tennis courts, and includes video surveillance for your safety. Please take advantage of this valuable safety service provided by Amberley Village!

Recycle Right:
Skip the Bags!
Many people don't realize that bagging items in plastic actually drives up costs to recycle, and interferes with sorting. Help prevent damage to sorting equipment and maximize the recycling process by placing your recyclable items loose in the bin. Plastic bags can be returned to many retailers for recycling, but please do not put them in your residential bin.

Coyote Awareness & Safety
Be sure to learn the facts about how best to keep your pets safe from the dangers of coyotes as the weather heats up. Coyotes are spotted regularly throughout the Village, but tend to be more afraid of humans than we are of them. Take a moment to view this informative video, and learn more about precautions you can take for safer cohabitation.

Curb Hazards & Sewers
As mowing season continues, residents are reminded to keep curb areas clear of grass clippings, tree and shrubbery trimmings, yard waste, and trash. This material accumulates causing a danger to the traveling public, particularly during wet weather, as well as creates a problem with blocking our storm drainage system. As recent rain events have indicated, we need to ensure that our storm grates are clean and clear of debris. Thanks in advance!

Sign Up for the Do Not Solicit List
Supreme Court and Ohio Court rulings have limited the Village's ability to regulate door-to-door sales, but solicitors must still register with the Village. As the weather continues to improve, the number of solicitors often increases as well.
Residents who do not wish to receive sales activity at their residence are encouraged to place their address on the Do Not Solicit list by contacting the Police Department at 531-2040. Only your address will appear on the Do Not Solicit list. Residents may also place a placard that reads "No Solicitors" on their private property. Violations can also be reported to the Police Department at 531-2040.

Street Sweeping Returns in June
The Village has hired a private company to perform twice-a-year street sweeping. Look for a slow moving street sweeper around the Village during the week of June 17
.
The Village does ask that residents remove their cars from the streets that week to make this street sweeping as effective as possible. We'll let you know which section of the Village is anticipated to be swept once the date is closer and we have a better idea of weather.
The sweeper has to go around cars parked on the roadways, meaning the roadway areas under and near parked cars will not be cleaned. Street sweeping is not just about being tidy. Street sweeping reduces air pollution and water pollution, and is a small part of a broader effort to improve the environment. So, if at all possible, park in your driveway during the business day so that our contractor can make our roads as free of debris as possible. Thanks in advance for your help!

Communicating the business of the Village is a top priority.
To increase readership of the E-News and to ensure all residents are being reached, a print edition of the newsletter is published and mailed bi-annually. The next print newsletter will arrive in the Fall.
