Words of Wisdom
On May 9th, the LDS Church and BSA announced that the LDS Church is going to conclude its relationship as a Chartered Partner with the Boy Scouts of America, on December 31, 2019, to pursue a world-wide youth church program.
We will continue to welcome LDS youth and adults to participate in our Scouting programs, much like youth and adults who are engaged in church youth groups and Scouting programs. The value of Scouting hasn't changed for LDS Scouts and their families - just the delivery method.
Mt. Diablo Silverado Council currently serves 1,151 youth in 87 units in the LDS Church of our 8,870 youth and 326 units as of April 30, 2018.
Friends of Scouting
Our 2018 fundraising campaign known as Friends of Scouting is well under way. W
e want to give every Scouting family the opportunity to contribute to our Friends of Scouting campaigns. Every families support of FOS is vital in providing the resources to support your unit and it's leadership. We have to have everyone support to raise the remaining 62%.
Our campaigns, which is made up of mostly donations from families through unit presentations, has raised $322,781 of $856,000 or 38% of our goal by the end of April.
If 100% of our Scout Families in the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council donated just $20 a month Friends of Scouting our programs would receive over $1 million!
This year we are offering an Evergreen member by making a recurring gift, directly from a credit card each month.
Every contribution strengthens our ability to offer you a great program, train your leaders, run super camps, provide your district with a professional Scouter, and keep up with paperwork like registration and advancements. This would go a long way toward putting your Council in the black!
Don't forget to ask if your company matches donations to double your giving power!
Yours in Scouting

Advancement
Cub Scout Leaders!
Remember all your Scouts should have earned their advancement and have it submitted to the Council Office or on Scoutbook by June 8, 2017! Your Cub Scouts will roll over into the next grade over the weekend and for your Scouts to officially receive their recognition you need to make sure it is submitted. This includes all Bobcat, Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Arrow of Light advancements.
Boy Scout Leaders!
Make sure your Scouts have identified their camp Merit Badges and made sure it will help them achieve their next rank. It is also your job, as the Scoutmaster to approve all Merit Badges before your Scouts start them including badges taken at camp.
Training Moment
All Leaders attending Summer Camps must arrive at Camp with proof of their registration in BSA (this means a membership card or roster your Troop runs out of
www.my.scouting.org.) They also must have proof they are current on their youth protection training. Youth Protection Training may be taken at
