May Activities:
Several of our centers participated in coloring the Huggy Heart logo for Huggy Heart Day to celebrate Community Action Month!

A group of energetic Seniors from the Northwest Arkansas Homeschool Group volunteered at EOA Children's House this month. Thank you for helping us organize our donation room!
Ms. Gabi's class at our Springdale Center read “The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear” along with other books this month.
Tasty strawberries were brought in for the kids to try, cut them in two just like the little mouse, and then eat them all up!

The  Junior League of Northwest Arkansas  donated a total of $20,000 to four of their partner agencies in honor of their 20th Anniversary.
EOA Children's House   was selected to be one of the recipients.
THANK YOU to JLNWA for your support and congratulations on 20 years in NWA!

Jake the Snake visited the Pat Walker Center for Children, he was a big hit with all of the kiddos!
Thank you to Joan Wright and Shirley Durning and all the members of the  Washington County Retired Teachers' Association  for their generous donation of over 400 new and gently used books. We can't wait to get these treasures out into the hands of our kiddos!
Learning and understanding the best evidence-based practices in child care and child development is vital to EOA. Our teachers and staff members receive many hours of training throughout the school-year to ensure that our kiddos have the highest quality of care.
Ms. Michelle and Ms. Bailei recently attended a a 2-day Conscious Discipline workshop with Dr. Becky Bailey and master instructor Kim Jackson in Sacramento, CA. The training focused on building trauma-sensitive classrooms and schools.
EOA Children's Services staff had an informational booth at the Hispanic Women's Organization of Arkansas Cinco de Mayo event at the Jones Center!
The United Methodist Women with Elm Springs United Methodist Church made a generous donation to EOA Children's House at their monthly meeting.
Thank you to this lovely group of ladies!
Our West Washington County Center celebrated the end of a fantastic school year with a full day of face painting, potting flowers, making one of a kind keepsake paintings, beading, and making crowns. To top it off, members of the Canterbury Knights performed and then knighted each child!

Staff from Health, Mental Health/Disability, Education, Family Services and Program Design and Management attended the National Head Start Association Conference in San Antonio, TX. This is the largest national conference devoted to all things Head Start, bringing everyone together for a week of sharing knowledge, networking with peers, and celebrating achievements.

Our centers celebrated Head Start's 54th birthday and Early Head Start's 25th birthday this month!
For 54 years, Head Start has changed the lives of more than 36 million children and their families.
On behalf of everyone at EOA,
Happy Birthday, Head Start!
The United Way of Northwest Arkansas prize patrol awarded EOA with a two-year Children Living in Poverty (CLIP) Program grant. We are excited to receive this funding to help support our EOA Children's Services program. Thank you!
