THE FULCRUM
Summer 2019 Edition
From the National Office
Greetings!

In a week, LIFE Pacific moderators will arrive in California to prepare for their students’ arrival on June 16. In a month, LIFE South moderators will do the same, with LIFE Central following soon after. To say that June and July are busy months for LIFE is an understatement. That is not where all the work is though. Throughout the academic year, LIFE Teams host Marianist LIFE Community Meetings regularly, sponsor some events for charity, and assist with liturgies. I have heard during my visits with LIFE Teams that they provide a safe space for their peers to just be and to grow in their faith. This is what LIFE is all about.
As moderators and LIFErs prepare for their travels to the summer programs near & far, the Marianist Family prays for them all! May their days be filled with prayerful reflection, a lot of fun, and personal growth.

Peace,
#SoulOnFire

LIFE Team Happenings
VILLA ANGELA-ST. JOSEPH
Cleveland, OH

In March, the LIFE Team of Villa Angela-St. Joseph hosted a meeting in which they discussed the death penalty and wrote letters to their governor & people on death row. The death penalty is one of the four issues in the social justice module during the summer program. Students also learned about water, immigration and human trafficking. GROSS CATHOLIC
Bellevue, NE

A community of communities is what the LIFE Team from Gross Catholic fosters. The LIFE Team, comprised of members who participated in LIFE 2017 & LIFE 2018, meet regularly to plan LIFE Meetings, and these planning meetings are truly joyful events. What they coordinate for their peers is a space in which any student can feel like he or she belongs. They also plan activities for Marianist Heritage Week in January, and they have taken on the recycling program at the school.
CHAMINADE MADONNA
Hollywood, FL

The new Chaminade Madonna LIFE leaders for 2019-2020 were commissioned at a ceremony in May by campus minister, Antonio Marí, moderator Jeannette Victoria, and Fr. Bob Bouffier, SM. The new team is excited for the summer program in preparation for next school year. (Photos courtesy of Antonio Marí)

Support Marianist LIFE
These are just a few of thousands of students enlivened by the Spirit at Marianist LIFE over the last 49 years. LIFE Alumni return as Marianist Young Adult Assistants, Staff, Coordinating Team members and school/parish Moderators year after year. As our current LIFErs describe, their week at the Summer Program had an impact on their lives, which is echoed by numerous LIFE Alumni throughout the years.

As part of our 50 th Anniversary summer program in 2020, we would like to share photos of summer programs of years past. This is a great way for our LIFErs to see the rich history of which they will be a part. We will use them in videos (which we’ll share via social media and The Fulcrum ), and post them around the campus.
