Immanuel honored the graduating high school seniors on Sunday, May 6th. The parents blessed their graduates and the graduates blessed their parents. Each graduate was presented with a tied blanket in their school colors by their parents.

RUMMAGE/BAKE SALE 
THANK YOU!

The annual Immanuel rummage and bake sale was successful - thanks to everyone.   The proceeds of the bake sale go to the youth programs of our church.   The proceeds of the rummage sale go back into the community.
 
Thank you to everyone who provided "merchandise" for the rummage sale.   Thank you to everyone that provided scrumptious goodies for the bake sale.
 

And thank you to each and every volunteer for the many hours you gave of your time to this year's rummage and bake sale.   We so appreciate the assistance and cooperation in this annual event.

Burning of the Mortgage

The mortgage was burned on Sunday, April 29th. The 20 year mortgage was paid off in just 11 years.

Children's Ministry

Sunday School

Sunday School meets on during the 10:30am worship service on Sundays. The children are dismissed following the 
ch ildren's sermon.








The last day of Sunday School for the 2017- 18  school year will be May 20th. On that day follow ing the children's sermon the children will have a end of year celebration with snacks, table activities and outdoor games. 

All chi ldren are welcome to join the celebration.  You don't have to have attended Sunday School to  join in the fun. Sunday School will resume in September.






Vacation Bible School


Family Vacation Bible School will be held August 5th through 9th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. The theme will be Babylon: Daniel's Courage in Captivity. If you are interested in helping with this, please contact Pastor Paul.
Youth Ministry

CREW

C REW  met Wednesday, May 9th. They made 10 gift bags and that were delivered t to the nursing home for Mother's Day gifts for some of the residents. 
On May 23rd  CREW will conclude this school year with a swim party at the Hallett Center.

All students grades 7-12 are welcome to attend CREW events. They do not need to be amember of Immanuel.

Sandy Davis has resigned her position as Youth Ministry Coordinator. She will be honored on June 3rd when she will be presented with a "Love Offering." If you would like to contribute to this gift, please put your donation into one of the "Love Offering" envelopes and place in the offering plate or leave it in the church office during the month of May.





Handbell Ministry

The Halleluja h Handbell Choir would like to give a special thank you to Jim Patrick who sang "Just As I Am" with us on Mother's Day. 









The Chapel Chimers will have their final practice on Wed. May 16 and last performance this spring on May 20.  Lydia Nelson, Corbin Kinzer and Isabelle Thompson will be the scripture readers on that Sunday.

Meal With A Mission

The April Meal With A Mission benefited Relay for Life


The Meal With A Mission on May 20th will benefit Alzheimer's Awareness and the June Meal With A Mission on June 10th will benefit the Spirit of Christmas Bazaar. The money raised by this event will help pay for advertising and supplies for the confections.


Manna for Malawi Raffle


An additional raffle has been added for Manna for Malawi. Crosby Mattress has donated a queen sized Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress in either firm or plush. This includes the mattress set, frame, a mattress protector, a set of sheets, pillows and a sheep. The retail value is $1,160. Watch for details on when tickets will be available for this raffle along with other details regarding the raffle.




Raffle tickets are now available for prizes to be awarded at Manna For Malawi on June 24th. These tickets will be sold at church beginning Sunday, March 18th. Watch newsletters and bulletins for where else the tickets will be available.

Manna for Malawi

   

Mark  your calendars now for the 2018 Manna for Malawi which will be held on Sunday, June 24th at the Woodtick Inn in Cuyuna. This year's event will feature the bands and Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys, a blues band from Wisconsin and Gravel Roads, a band that played last year also To learn more about Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys check out their site or Gravel Roads check out their website.  






Many volunteers will be needed for this
event.  Volunteer opportunities include food servers, cleaning tables, check-in tables, silent auction checkout table, serving root beer floats, and more. Youth are needed to help with face painting and balloon animals.  Volunteers can sign up for one hour slots. Sign-up sheets are located in the bookstore area of the fellowship hall. If you do not have a green T-shirt from previous years, contact The Shirt Shop in Crosby.

 
Silent auction items are needed for this event. Please drop off items in the church office during office hours and fill out the donation slip that is located in the blue folder in the office. If an item needs to be picked up, please contact Jim or Ardelle at 218-546-7131.

Harvesting of the Maize

The Malawi Orphan Care Project posted this Facebook update on April 30th regarding the maize on the farm in Malawi: Twenty-three tones of maize has been harvested at the new farm over the past few weeks. This is about half of the crop. Many people continue to harvest the maize that is still in the field. We thank God for this harvest and please pray for the safety of the workers as they finish harvesting in the coming weeks.
