As part of a new feature, from time-to-time SAHBA will be “spotlighting” members who are working to build a better community.

This week we are featuring Andrew Hayes of Hayes Construction.

Andrew has been officially working for his family’s home building company for 9 years but grew up working there through high school and even before. At an early age they instilled in him the value of building quality homes and the importance of making a positive impact on the community.

On May 17, Andrew had the opportunity to put his experience and commitment to work. He took part in the groundbreaking for the construction of a specially adapted smart home for US Army SFC Caleb Brewer (Ret.) who lost both legs while serving his country—in Afghanistan. Hayes Construction was selected by the Gary Sinise Foundation and their Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment (R.I.S.E) program. This is the first home built by the foundation in Arizona.

“Being involved with this project means so much to me. We have been given such a unique opportunity to positively impact Caleb and his family’s life. Working with The Gary Sinise Foundation, it is amazing to see the lengths they will go – especially when every situation is so unique - to make sure the house is right for the veteran and their family.” – Andrew Hayes
