Cash register training-mandatory

If you are new to working as a cashier at the food stand this year (or you have been a cashier in the past and you want a refresher course before fair), you MUST complete a mandatory cash register training before your food stand shift!

This year, training will be on July 18th at 6:30 PM (the same night as pre-fair clean up) in the food stand.

4-H Fair Office

After July 19th and all during fair week, our office will be located in the SW corner of Olson Pavilion. All Extension office staff will be located at the fair office and not at the office in Lakefield during the fair.

Jackson County 4-H Foodstand

The food stand is our main fundraiser event of the year. We support this event by each club working their shifts during the fair. Each year, hundreds of meals, snacks and drinks are served to fair-goers by our terrific 4-H members and adults that volunteer to work shifts.

Our managers and Food Stand Committee are working hard to make sure that the food stand is able to provide the great food that we have had in the past.

Peaches and Puffins

At your July club meetings, you will be able to pick up your peach and puffin sale sheets to raise money for our summer intern position!

Forms and money are due to the 4-H Fair Office on Saturday, July 28th and pickup will be in Lakefield and Jackson on Friday, August 10th.

Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman encourages youth and the adults who support them to explore an agrisciece project this year. It's a great way to build skills, connect with mentors and find real solutions to challenges in your community!

Powerful things happen for youth when they're in a positive relationship with caring adults. The 2018 annual volunteer training, "4-H Grows Relationships," will ready youth and adult volunteers to connect to young people in meaningful ways. Watch for dates and locations across the state this fall and plan to bring a team of youth and adult volunteers.

Congratulations to the 2018 Minnesota 4-H scholarship recipients! These eight outstanding 4-H youth and alumni from across Minnesota stood out among over 100 individuals who submitted applications.

Again in 2018 the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association will be providing $30 cash awards to all 4-H members who complete a livestock demonstration during 4-H livestock weekend at the Minnesota State Fair. Start planning your livestock demonstration today!

Two scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $58,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process.
