Our board recruits year-round, but at
this time we are particularly focused on recruiting new members for the
2018-19 school year. Are you a parent in the district who can offer a special skill (web design, a second language, fundraising ability, administrative or accounting skills, etc.)? Do you have a business in San Gabriel and are looking for a way to participate more in the community? Having a child in the school district is not a requirement.

SEF Annual Fund Update
|
The San Gabriel Educational Foundation recently launched its annual fundraising campaign, and we need your help to make it a success-for the sake of our students and the community.
To continue providing programs, we are asking all families in area public schools to donate what they can by December 31. Ideally you can give at least $10.
As you may already know, with your help, SEF bridges a gap in government funding in the San Gabriel Unified School District, providing opportunities that wouldn't otherwise be available. Programs are customized to the needs of each of our eight campuses and range from the arts to debate and math.
I can tell you that giving your time and donating to education are among the most personally fulfilling investments you can make. After all, both of my parents were teachers and they instilled in me an understanding of the value of a good education, and this is why I support SEF.
My mother taught English as a second language to adults in the community, and I remember how important learning was for her families, just as it is in our district today.
Won't you please express your support of our students today with your gift, no matter how small.

Why Do You Support SEF?
I heard about the organization from current President Alison DeVriendt, and it sounded like a great cause. We had worked together at another nonprofit, and I knew I would enjoy spending time with her and the group. It is so fulfilling to team up with smart, fun people and work towards a common goal.
What is Your Favorite Memory from School?
I had a teacher in fifth grade who gave a lot of creative writing assignments. I think it was the first time I wrote poetry. She really encouraged me to write poems in a way that makes me appreciate reading and writing to this day.
What do You Do in Your Free Time?
I love to get outdoors and run or go hiking with my husband, Tony, and our pit bull, Enzo. I also love to ski in Mammoth. I am trying to get in better shape and love my fitness tracker.
