The  Medicine Hat JazzFest  is about family fun, dance parties, world-class artists, late night grooving, sunny patios and corner pubs. It's about dancing on a parking garage and in an airport hangar! It's about connecting with friends and family and meeting new people. It's the 22nd anniversary and JazzFest is celebrating! As winner of the 2010 and 2015 Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Tourism Award of Distinction and the 2016 Alberta Business Award in Arts and Culture, JazzFest's reputation just keeps spreading! From June 17-24 JazzFest will be presenting many of the same artists that are appearing at Jazz Festivals from Vancouver to Montreal.

With acts like the Chelsea McBride Socialist Night School Big Band, Dutch saxophonist Yuri Honing, and African Dance Band Lynn Olagundoye, JazzFest combines a big city bang with small town charm. And the result is drawing return fans from across Alberta and Saskatchewan and the rest of Canada. Passes offer over $375 worth of tickets for $149.  Follow us on Twitter and IG @medhatjazz. We're at Medicine Hat JazzFest on Facebook.

Full details are at  medicinehatjazzfest.com  and tickets and passes are available at all Esplanade ticket outlets and tixx.ca following the media launch May 10, 2018.  So this June, why not see what all the buzz is about! Give it a try. We think you'll dig it!

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement on the recent decision of the Supreme Court decision R v Comeau: "While the Supreme Court has recognized that s.121 of the Constitution Act, 1867 prohibits laws whose primary purpose is to impede interprovincial trade, we are disappointed that they missed an important opportunity to take a historic step toward freer interprovincial trade, we are disappointed that they missed an important opportunity to take a historic step toward freer interprovincial trade with a broader interpretation of s. 121." What image does the word "entrepreneur" generate in your mind? If I close my eyes and let my thoughts roam I see an individual striving to launch a business. They're busy. Driven. Resourceful. Perhaps with an independent streak and an ability to accept and manage financial risk as they pursue an opportunity. I'd guess there's a reasonable chance that most people get that kind of image when they think "entrepreneur." In my thinking, the image is flattering and the results these people achieve are rewarding. What that stereotype omits, however, is an entire range of innovative thinkers and doers that are critical to almost any organization. Read more
