This Week at BJBE
June 25,  2018
A Note from Sally Sachar, Executive Director

Dear Congregants,

How can it be that this is the last week of June?

BJBE has officially turned the corner into summer, and we hope you are able to join us during our summer programming, all described below. There are Shabbat services weekly at 6:00 pm, preceded and followed by a special Oneg, ideally under the stars after the service, and there are numerous other opportunities including Torah on Tap, Shabbat in the Park (with free pizza dinner for all!), Salon for Perennials (Mid-Lifers), After Camp Drop-Off Happy Hour, and more!

During membership season, in particular, we hope you will bring friends and family with you to our programs, so that they can experience the full range of BJBE programs and services. If you know someone who may be interested in learning more about BJBE, please have them contact me or Anne Robbin!

On a personal note, I am looking forward to our discussion Thursday evening in the Sacred Hall about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, including the recent documentary about her, the first Jewish woman appointed to the US Supreme Court. If you would like to attend and have not RSVP'd, please email Susie.

If you are looking for a Mitzvah opportunity, we encourage you to consider making a $120-$140 donation to the Project Nourish Fund at BJBE by clicking here. By doing so, you will be financing a month's worth of fruit during our summer months (May-September).  For a $50 donation you can supplement one month of our fruit donations from our Jewish Learning Center families. This is a great way for you to support Project Nourish even if you can't come to our lunch making sessions. Please contact Merrilee for more details.

Finally, please keep an eye out in the coming days for information about our ShulCloud roll-out!

Have a wonderful week!

-Sally

SOCIAL ACTION NETWORK

Luggage for Freedom's goal is to provide a sense of dignity to women who are staying at and transitioning out of domestic violence and homeless shelters, by giving them a suitcase packed with some personal and household items. To that end, Luggage for Freedom provides gently used luggage packed with new towels, new sheets, and new toiletries to women leaving local domestic violence shelters to start their lives anew. We also provide backpacks filled with books and stuffed animals for children. We pack an average of approximately 200 suitcases and over 100 backpacks and deliver them to 9 local shelters. Luggage for Freedom has an incredible ability to directly impact women and children in a positive way, at a time when they are most vulnerable.

In addition to tzedakah, we are collecting NEW stuffed animals, NEW sheet sets and NEW towels, as well as gently used luggage, backpacks,  purses, children's books, and travel size toiletries. Drop off in the BJBE office.
