A Note from Head of Finance and Business...
New students at Crossroads and what it means to you!

Since our enrollment opened to the public in March, we have had daily phone inquiries and school visits from new families. This is all very exciting for us here at Crossroads.

Enrolling new students provides us with expanded options in class groupings, and facilities arrangement. New students also bring new personalities and strengths to each classroom culture, as well as to our overall campus environment. Here at Crossroads, we welcome this annual infusion of new faces, new interests, new personalities and new social opportunities for all students.

With the addition of new students each year, current students gain:
  • Character building experiences through the acceptance of new and different students
  • Expansion of their social circle without the pressures and bullying that can sometimes accompany friend-making
  • Patience while learning the process of adapting to a change in their environment

We encourage you to share your enthusiasm about Crossroads with your friends, family, and anyone else you know who may be looking for a unique educational option for children who learn differently. We have space and are eager to meet and tour new families. Once it is determined that  A)  Crossroads can meet the student's academic and social needs and  B)  the student will grow and interact positively with the existing student body, then we can accept the student and begin to plan their individualized, unique educational journey.

The priority for Crossroads is to never jeopardize the success of our current students when considering the admission of a new student. If it is determined that a prospective student needs a setting other than Crossroads, we will always strive to help guide families toward other options that can best serve their needs This is one of the reasons we are continually building relationships with other local, specialty schools. We believe that every child deserves a place to learn that is just right for them!

Lots of Great Events on the Calendar

The school year is quickly coming to a close but the school calendar is packed with activities and events. Next week is completely devoted to IOWA standardized testing. Our staff has arranged for many adventures both on-campus and off. Watch your newsletters for more details and pictures about the following:
  • Houston Ballet Education and Community Engagement program
  • Peer Mediation Training for students and staff with Barbara Radnofsky
  • Nature Discovery Center - Reptile visit to campus
  • Mobile Robotics Lab from the IDEA Lab
  • All School trip to MAIN EVENT on May 3.
Cooking Enrichment

Well, we finally made everyone’s favorite: macaroni & cheese. There is nothing particularly healthy about this rich dish, but we tried to make it better by offering a variety of nutritious mix-ins, from parsley and peas to tomatoes and scallions. Though some were certainly traditionalists, others added a lot of flair. In the end, everyone was smiling a cheesy grin at their creative concoctions.
