EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE UPDATE

Mound Road Asphalt Resurfacing from 18 Mile Road to North of 14 Mile Road is set to begin Monday, July 2.  The contractor is Ajax Paving, and they intend to work 7 am-7pm, seven days a week until project completion.  The project is expected to last into November and be completed this year.

The project will start with reducing traffic two lanes on Northbound Mound at the southerly project limits, and within 1-2 weeks it is anticipated two Southbound lanes will be reduced as well.  The lane reductions will remain through the end of the project through the project limits.  Cross-overs will be closed at times, but only every other one is permitted to be closed at one particular time. The project does include the resurfacing of the 17 Mile Road and 18 Mile Road approaches to Mound Road as well.  Periodic daily lane closures will be necessary on these mile roads from time to time to complete this work.

The construction contract for this work is $8.8M.  80% Federally funded, 20% local funded (Split between County and City).

The project includes minimal base work and curb work, and the goal of the project is to improve surface conditions for this section of Mound Road to make it serviceable until the reconstruction can begin.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: BE PART OF "THE NET"
This year, the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce will embark on new territory with our very own magazine for members - the net. We are very excited to announce this publication and how you can be a part of it. We thought about creating a Chamber Directory and knew that it would probably sit on a shelf and not be read, so to encourage you to learn more about fellow members, member services and member events, we decided to create our very own magazine. With the help of Macomb Now Magazine, we anticipate a 24-page glossy magazine, with our own look and feel, telling the stories only we can tell about chamber members and the people behind the businesses the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce interacts with every day.

Any advertising questions you have can be answered by Macomb Now's Ad Sales Representative Diane Bowles at (586.622.6621 x8) or the Chamber's Business Development Director Gina Rieck (586.731.5400 x15).

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT:

This week on the M-59 project, MDOT continued to make significant progress. The contractor is almost complete with the last bit of work that needs to be done before pavement can be placed. Preparations have also begun for the work that will close down the median of the M-59/Romeo Plank intersection. MDOT is planning on starting this work next Thursday, July 5, and the intersection is expected to be closed for ten days. This means that by mid-July, the next phase of construction on the project should be underway.

If you have any questions on the project, please feel free to contact MDOT.
