Got Commercial?
The secret to our success has always been to grow when our clients had a need and we found the right individual to fill that need. Our launch into commercial sales and leasing is no different. With limited commercial opportunities in most of northern Michigan, there just are not many agents with the know-how to be a true resource for clients seeking commercial. More and more, we had clients interested in buying, selling, or leasing commercial property who came to us to help. While we always want to help our clients out, most of our agents have very little commercial experience and we realized we really were not well suited to assist.
That all changed when we met Joe Sarafa. Joe has commercial real estate in his blood as he grew up in a family that is well-versed in every aspect of investment, development, and management of commercial property. He currently manages over 500,000 square feet of leased space. He's also played an integral role in some of the largest development projects in Traverse City, including the redevelopment of the former Horizon Outlet which is now home to Hobby Lobby, Lucky's Market, and the AMC Classic Cherry Blossom theater.
Joe is a member of the Commercial Board of Realtors, Traverse Area Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, and the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. Joe enjoys strong working relationships with city, state, and township authorities. He's based in Traverse City, and we feel it's key to have a local agent be the point person in all transactions. Because of this, Joe will also be assisting our other agents when necessary in their own home regions.
Joe came aboard last fall, and we began the process of building out all the necessary tools needed for our commercial clients. We began by building the most complete commercial search available in northern Michigan. With data pulled from six different MLS systems, users can search properties for sale or lease and get exactly the results they want in just a few clicks. Click
HERE to take it for a spin. We also stood up various social media pages including
Traverse City Commercial Real Estate on Facebook where we'll keep our audience updated on all sorts of items of interest to northern Michigan commercial real estate.
We'll never give up our roots in waterfront property, but we're now also capable of servicing our clients commercial needs throughout northern Michigan. To learn more, contact

Favorite Places and Spaces
My favorite place to spend a day in the spring after a long winter is drifting down the Pere Marquette River. The birds are finally chirping again, the snow is about gone, and steelhead are entering the river system to start their annual spawning run. The woods are not pretty yet and the grass is flat and brown, but life beneath the surface of the river never sleeps. The river is constantly changing and it is like going for a walk while floating downstream wondering if the next bend is going to look the same or not. You never know if one of the trees from the cathedral ceiling above have fallen into the river. If I happen to catch a fish it is a bonus, and it will be released back into the wild offering a gift for another angler to enjoy.

Featured Property!
There are very few properties like this in Leelanau County, and a only a select few with 120 acres of rolling hills, gorgeous thick hardwoods, and a high ridge that has a gentle south and west facing slope setup perfectly for new orchards, vineyards, or hop fields. This is one of the most picturesque parts of the county, for sure.
The classic farmhouse has been given some updates - newer vinyl siding and a new roof, and there's a new metal roof on three of the barns as well. This property has already been prepped and soil has been tested for vineyards by some local specialists, and found to be a great potential site for a new vineyard estate. Consideration will be given to a vacant-acreage-only sale as well.
French Road has become synonymous with beautiful farms, idyllic Leelanau countryside, and gorgeous lake views. This would be an incredible location for a new country home, farm operation, wedding venue, and much more!

With the 2019 trout fishing season about to get underway, it's a good time to review the regulations on your local waters. Effective March 21, 2019 there are new rules in effect for boaters and anglers to prevent the introduction and spread of invasive species. They may take a little more time before leaving the launch, but these best practices will serve to protect our fisheries for the years ahead. Get all the details

One of the things that makes Downtown Traverse City such a great place to live, work, and play is the community that surrounds it. Getting out of the car and walking or biking to and from destinations is one way we love to stay connected to the people and the places around us. We are fortunate to have a grassroots organization working to foster
"stronger, better connected and more walk/bike friendly communities."
