Update: COVID-19 Vaccine distribution
Eligible participants for PHASE 1A+

  • Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.)
  • Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
  • Adults aged 65 and older and their caregivers as applicable
  • Law enforcement, firefighters, first responders
Phase 1A+ of COVID-19 vaccinations began on Monday, and available slots filled quickly. This phase of distribution will continue as supplies are replenished. Here are some important things to know:

  • Registration is currently paused as DeKalb Department of Public Health works through the backlog of registrations and awaits additional vaccine supply. If you were able to register this week, there is no need to re-register. Emails will be sent to those who have registered once additional appointments are available.

  • The best place to check for new information is the Board of Health’s website — dekalbhealth.net. Check back often, as the registration portal will reopen when new supplies are available.

  • Those who have scheduled appointments must arrive at their scheduled date/time. Early arrivals will be asked to return at the scheduled appointment time.

  • Everyone who desires the COVID-19 vaccine will ultimately be able to receive it. For questions related to the vaccine itself, call the COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center at (404) 294-3700.

  • ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: Check with your own physician, perhaps through your patient portal, as many may begin administering vaccines soon. Kroger and Publix have begun administering the vaccine in many locations, as will some pharmacies in the coming weeks. In addition, some health department sites throughout the state are accepting registrations from Georgians outside of their own county. See a complete list of state sites below.

The goal of 50,000 pounds of food can be achieved with a donation of just one pound of food from each Dunwoody resident!

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in Dunwoody is coordinated by Dunwoody Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Dunwoody-Atlanta chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

What are your hopes for 2021?
Make them a part of Doves of Hope origami exhibit

In partnership with Pebble Tossers, Spruill Center for the Arts is calling on the community to help create a new art installation in the North DeKalb Cultural Arts Center atrium. The planned installation will feature 2,021 origami doves to symbolize our collective hopes and dreams for the new year. The project is similar to the "Les Colombes" installations created at the Salisbury Cathedral in the United Kingdom and the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The art installation is a community-based project that asks participants to write their hopes and dreams for 2021 on paper, fold each sheet into an origami dove and deliver them to Spruill Center for the Arts before Jan. 30.

Transportation
Springwood Connector now open!

Connecting Perimeter Center Parkway with Peachtree Dunwoody Road, south and parallel to Hammond Drive, the Springwood Connector is officially open.

The new roadway was built entirely with private-sector funds. State Farm donated part of the land and paid for design and construction costs of the Dunwoody portion of the road in conjunction with the company’s new regional hub, which contains 1.1 million square feet of office space, developed by KDC, in three buildings.

By adding a secondary east-west connection in the area, the roadway is projected to alleviate traffic on Hammond Drive by diverting up to 8,000 vehicles per day. The Springwood Connector also supports transit with new sidewalks and bicycle lanes within walking distance to the Dunwoody MARTA Station.
