Current Mortgage Rat es                                  My Listings                           Getting to know the Flathead

Hello dear friends and clients,

Seriously, this is not a man in a bear suit. It is a big sow (lady) bear one of my clients snapped a photo of on their property. Guess what the street name is. Yup, Black Bear Lane. Well-named, don't you think? The bears know when spring officially arrives in the Flathead Valley!

Many of you will be attending graduations this month and then heading up to the Flathead (if you are not already here). Stop by the office and let's talk about your real estate needs and goals. I have some beautiful new listings and reduced prices on some others. I am sure we can find you just the right property. And the Flathead is booming. Click here for a breakdown of all the new businesses under construction in the Valley. In addition, downtown Kalispell is on the cusp of a complete transformation with the expected completion of the Glacier Rail Park later this year. Read here.

In the Market News, if  you have land or a lot, the trend is good. Click here for the market trend on lots over the past three years. I think you will be pleased! More good news for sales of single family residences regarding the average square foot price in Bigfork vs other Flathead towns. Click here.

If you are thinking of listing your property, or buying a property in Montana, my experience, record and expertise will successfully guide you through the negotiation process toward the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll go have dinner and talk.

As always,  cheers!
Denise

A note about Initiative 17-01. This is the Egan Slough Ballot Initiative. RPAC (Realtors Political Action Committee) urged voters to vote NO.
I want my clients to know that RPAC does not speak for me. The only control we have over our property destiny is zoning.
I am in favor of the Egan Slough Zoning District. Read about the ballot initiative here.

Testimonial:

With Denise's support, we had an opportunity to purchase a piece of property on a short time without being in Bigfork to monitor the transaction process.

Denise provided outstanding support through the entire event. Every issue we encountered Denise handled with timely responses and true professionalism.

Without Denise and her 5-star performance, we could not have achieved the milestone in our lives...returning home to Montana.

Congratulations to Gary and Susan Snow of Bigfork. Their company, Tabletree Montana LLC,
has earned the title "Best Pure Juice Product in the World" for their Black Cherry Juice at the World Juice Awards in Barcelona, Spain and 2nd Place for "Best New Juice" award for its Red Apple Juice presented in Cologne, Germany.

Congratulations to Donna Lawson!

May 1st, Donna officially retired from the Jug Tree business that her father started in 1949 and she has successfully operated most of her life. Not only that, Donna has been the guiding force in Bigfork. Almost nothing happens in this wonderful place without the touch of Donna's hand.

To her surprise, Bigfork threw a grand parade in her honor and the whole town turned out. Now where else could that possibly happen? Just one of the many joys of living in a small town.

We'll miss Donna and we know she won't be far away (well maybe down south in the winter).  Congratulations on your retirement  Donna!

Denise's Kitchen Corner...
Lemon-Garlic Shrimp and Grits

I NGREDIENTS
3/4 cup instant grits
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/4 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 large cloves garlic, minced
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Juice of 1/2 lemon, plus wedges for serving
2 tablespoons roughly chopped fresh parsley
DIRECTIONS
Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat, covered. Uncover and slowly whisk in the grits, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.

Reduce to medium low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the Parmesan and 1 tablespoon butter. Remove from the heat and season with salt and pepper. Cover to keep warm.

Meanwhile, season the shrimp with salt and pepper. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, garlic and cayenne, if using, and cook, tossing, until the shrimp are pink, 3 to 4 minutes.

Remove from the heat and add 2 tablespoons water, the lemon juice and parsley; stir to coat the shrimp with the sauce and season with salt and pepper.

Divide the grits among shallow bowls and top with the shrimp and sauce. Serve with lemon wedges.

Denise's Book Corner, to make you laugh!

To kick off our Montana golf season and to give you a laugh (which I definitely  need sometimes), The Downhill Lie is Carl Hiaasen's confessional about returning to the fairways after a thirty-two-year absence.

Originally drawn to the game by his father, Carl quit golfing in 1973, when "Richard Nixon was hunkered down like a meth-crazed badger in the White House." It dawned on Carl that there might be one thing in life he could do better in middle age than he could as a youth. So gradually he ventured back to the dreaded driving range, this time as the father of a five-year-old son-and also as a grandfather.

There is not any kind of major plot to this book, other than to make you laugh. It's a quick read. If you want to understand this book you will need at least a beginner's knowledge of golf and a love for the sport. Anyone who has ever attempted to play the game will chuckle and smile with each turn of the page.
