Pastor's Message
Revelation Retreat

While it is still a month away I want to emphasize our focus of August on the book of Revelation. It will kick off with a clap of thunder on August 3rd with an all-day retreat lead by Pastor Paul Reimers. Pastor Paul will also be preaching on the topic Sunday August 5th and 12th. Please plan your summer so that you will be available to attend this exciting event. Paul has written a book on Revelation and spoken at a variety of conferences on the topic.

The book of Revelation is likely the most misunderstood and at the same time most intriguing book of the Bible. The book of Revelation begins, "This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John." So, the divine author of Revelation is Jesus Christ and the human author is the Apostle John.

The unveiling comes to the Apostle John through a series of magnificent visions. The strange language, imagery, and symbolism in Revelation were not quite as foreign to first century Christians as they are to us today. The numbers, symbols and word pictures John used held political and religious significance to believers in Asia Minor because they were familiar with the Old Testament prophetic writings of Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel and other Jewish texts.

The book of Revelation is a glimpse into the invisible spiritual battle in which the body of Christ is engaged. Good battles against evil. God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, are pitted against Satan and his demons. Indeed, our risen Savior and Lord has already won the war, but in the end, he will come again to Earth. At that time everyone will know that he is King of Kings and Lord of the Universe. Ultimately, God and his people triumph over evil in a final victory.

Followers of Jesus Christ are cautioned to stay strong in the face of suffering, to uproot any sin that may be hindering their fellowship with God, and to live clean and undefiled by the influences of this world.

Followers of Christ have great hope for the future. Our salvation is sure and our future is secure because our Lord Jesus conquered death and hell. Christians are destined for eternity, where all things will be made new. Believers will live forever with God in perfect peace and security. His eternal kingdom will be established and he will rule and reign forever victorious.

Revelation 1:3 states: Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

I pray that you will join us in the blessing of studying this important book of the Bible and to be inspired and transformed by the power of its message.

Blessings,

Pastor Philip Reimers

Mission Trip to Uganda
Pastor Philip

Have you considered if God might be calling you to a short-term mission trip?  It is an experience like no other.  It opens your eyes to the greater needs of people less fortunate that ourselves.  It opens your eyes to the contentment, joy, and hopefulness of people who have far less.  It opens your eyes to brothers and sisters who may look different and have a far different culture but who share the same love for Jesus that we have.  There are several different times we could consider going.  Thanksgiving break November 19-30, Christmas break December 26-Jan 4, or early summer June 3-14.  These dates are all a general guess but planned around school calendar so you could attend with parents if that would be of interest.  The cost would vary depending on dates selected.  A pretty good estimate of cost for each time would be; November $2500, December $2900, and June $3100.  This would include all major hard expenses; flight, ground transportation, lodging, and food.  Please let pastor know if you would be interested in this trip and which possible times would work for you.  We need to determine if we have enough interest soon so we can begin to make plans.
Love Offering
Each month we will highlight an outreach or special ministry. Loose cash offerings and designated offerings will be given directly to those ministry opportunities.

In June we collected
$

LCC Library
Linda Mohrmann

Featured Book found in the War Room on the fireplace.
I hope you all are enjoying your summer so far. Slap on the sunscreen, grab a cold drink, keep reading a good book. We have one that fits the bill and is the featured book for July. Written by John's and Hope's daughter-in-law, Lisa Bergren. Her latest book is  Keturah. "In 1772 England, Lady Keturah Banning Tomlinson and her sisters find themselves the heiress of their father's estates and know they have one option: Go to the West Indies to save what is left of their heritage. ..... can Keturah ever surrender her stubbornness and guarded heart to God and find the healing and love
awaiting her?"
As always, you are appreciated for your donations to the LCC library and for taking advantage of all it has
to offer.

H ap p y  summer and happy reading!
