WKU Art graduate to present lecture
Liz Chagnon, a 2018 WKU graduate, will discuss her research in Frescoes, Fragments & Frontiers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center, room 156. Chagnon (Art History BA, Studio Art minor) has been on an incredible journey studying fragments of frescoes originally created for the early 11th century Spanish church, the Hermitage of San Baudelio de Berlanga. The frescoes were removed from the church and are now on display in museums throughout the world. Her lecture is sponsored by the WKU Department of Art .
Bowling Green Mini Maker Faire Saturday
The second annual Bowling Green Mini Maker Faire , hosted by the WKU Makerspace and a team of WKU/community volunteers, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Ogden College lawn, 1421 Chestnut St. The family friendly event will feature hands-on exhibits that celebrate the diverse creative energies in our community, including forging and pouring metals, tomahawk throwing, a learn-to-solder table, weaving, Bosnian coffee and more. Kassandra Jones, a first-year Recreation & Sport Administration graduate student, was recently elected State Student Leader for the Kentucky Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. Jones, graduate assistant of Competitive Sports in WKU IMREC Sports, also will serve as Chair for the Student Lead-on session at the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Region II Conference. Spotlight: Author Samantha Ash
Samantha Ash, an alumnus of the WKU Department of English, will host a book signing for her fantasy novel, Carletta , from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble on Campbell Lane. She recently took the time to answer some questions about her writing process, the story behind her new novel, and advice she has for up-and-coming writers.
