ZFD hosted a Push-In event at Station 91 on March 29.
Mayor Tim Haak's Monthly Update   
 
Last month Zionsville Fire Department hosted a Push-In event at Station 91. The community was invited to join ZFD in assisting with "pushing in" the new Engine 91, Medic 91 and Battalion 9.

The new engine carries 700 gallons of water and 30 gallons of firefighting foam. The pump on this new engine can pump 2,000 gallons per minute. It is replacing the 2009 KME which will be a reserve or back up fire truck.



I was glad to be part of this fun and historic tradition, which goes back to when hand drawn fire engines and hose carts had to be pushed back into the station by hand. ZFD continues to honor this ceremony.

An event you don't want to miss is a presentation and panel discussion, "Everyone Belongs Here," on Tuesday, April 23 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. This event is hosted by Zionsville Community Schools and will take place at ZCHS Performing Arts Center. Clergy, town, school and community leaders invite the community and two special guests to this first series event. Rabbi Brett Krichiver and Reverend Shannon Walker Dycus will start the discussion and participate in a panel discussion with audience Q&A. Superintendent Scott Robison will moderate the panel discussion.

The Boone County Solid Waste Management District spring Household Hazardous Waste, Tire & Electronic Collection takes place on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Boone County Highway Department in Lebanon. Must be a Boone County resident.
Brick Street Market

The 34th Annual Brick Street Market is Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. This family-friendly event is free and features over 100 arts, crafts, vintage, antique and food vendors. In addition to the vendors, the event features a kids area, live entertainment, Silly Safaris, face painting and balloon artists. Park for free and use the shuttle (available throughout the event) from Zionsville Community High School.

Zionsville Town Council Meeting Minutes

Zionsville Departments Monthly Reports

Read an executive summary and monthly reports from the Zionsville Administration Department; Communications Department; Fire Department; IT Department; Parks & Recreation Department; Planning & Economic Development Department; Police Department; Street & Stormwater Department; and Wastewater Department.
Zionsville Road
 
Zionsville Road is currently closed for the Zionsville Road reconstruction project. This  project involves the widening of a one-mile section of Zionsville Road, converting it from its current two-lane configuration to three lanes by widening the existing lanes and adding a center turn lane between Technology Center Drive and 106th Street.  
 
This project also includes adding a 10' multi-use pathway the entire length of the project on the west side of the road as well as a 10' multi-use pathway on the east side of the road from Inglenook and Zionsville Cemetery north to 106th Street. 
 
The road is anticipated to be closed through November. South Zionsville Road businesses are open during construction. 
 
 
2019 Street and Wastewater Department Projects

 
North-South Connector: This project, currently still in design but anticipated for a 2019 start of construction, will add a new roadway link from Oak Street at Cooper Road north to CR 875 East at Whitestown Road. 
 
Main Street Bridge Improvements: Nearly complete, this project provides a 10' multi-use path on each side of the Main Street bridge over Eagle Creek, along with a scenic overlook bump-out on each side.
 
Oak Street Storm Sewer Project: A large new storm sewer will be installed along the south side of Oak Street from Irongate Drive to Ford Road 
 
Wastewater Department - Sewer Expansion Projects: Four Wastewater Department sewer projects, all part of the Sewer Master Plan, have been identified to start in 2019: Oak Street Sewer, Phase 1 Gravity Sewer on CR 875 East, Phase 2 Gravity Sewer on CR 875 East and North Regional Sewer. 
   
2019 Spring Brush and Limb Collection


 
The Street & Stormwater Department will provide curbside Brush & Limb Collection beginning Monday, April 15. This service provides Zionsville residents in the Urban Service district a means to dispose of certain pruning and yard debris. All items must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. on the Monday of your designated week.

Pull for Parks Month 

 
April is pull for parks month. The Zionsville Parks & Recreation Department is searching for groups and individuals interested in helping remove invasive garlic mustard from target areas in the Zionsville parks. This is an excellent opportunity for scouts and others trying to earn volunteer hours. The location of each public pull will be decided closer to the date.
