NISD students on what makes their teachers Superheroes!

'Huddle Time' coming May 21 at Nacogdoches Co. Civic Center
Alton Frailey likes to say he was "hopeful" for Nacogdoches ISD before joining the school district in March as interim superintendent. 

Now, after being on the job several weeks, "hopeful" has changed to "optimistic" and Mr. Frailey wants to share his encouraging vision with Nacogdoches.

"Huddle Time" with Mr. Frailey is coming at 6 p.m. on May 21 at the Nacogdoches County Expo and Civic Center.
Pre-K and kindergarten roundup set for Wednesday, May 23

Enrollment for Pre-K and kindergarten students will be held Wednesday, May 23, at NISD's District Support Center, 420 S. Shawnee St. Parents can obtain a registration package ahead of time by coming by the District Support Center.
TJR students see 
math used in real projects

Thomas J. Rusk fourth- and fifth-graders got the answer to the age-old question, "Why do I have to learn that?" At least where math is concerned.  Stephen F. Austin State University hosted a math career carnival at TJR's Beall Gym on May 4. The morning session was for fourth-graders; the afternoon was spent with fifth-graders.
Bonfire makes its return to Nacogdoches High School
A Nacogdoches High School tradition returned May 3. The Class of 2018 celebrated a Senior Bonfire at the Nacogdoches ISD AG barn.
STAAR testing schedule 
for week of May 14
Nettie Marshall Academy of Dual Language held a STAAR pep rally Friday morning. Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students and teachers then went back to class through a cheering line of kindergarten, first- and second-graders. NISD students will be taking STAAR exams next week.

On May 14, students in grades 3, 4, 6 and 7 will be tested in math. On May 15, students in grades 3, 4, 6 and 7 will be tested in reading. On May 14-15, students in grades 5 and 8 requiring re-tests will take exams. On May 16, students in grades 5 and 8 will be tested in science. And on May 17, eighth-graders will be tested in social studies.
We will educate and inspire everyone to achieve excellence.
