Sisterhood2day is Coming May 17!

Sisterhood2day is Carondelet's Day of Giving when we celebrate the sisterhood that bonds five decades of Carondelet women, and we join together to support today's students and tomorrow's leaders.

Every gift made on this special day will be doubled by a generous, anonymous donor. Join in on the historic day at CarondeletHS.org/Sisterhood2day!
Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday in remembrance of the Battle of Puebla. It honors the valor, resiliency and strength of the Mexican people against foreign invaders. Motivated to share their culture with the Carondelet/De la Salle community, Bianey Douglas '20 (left) and members of the Latin@s Unid@s club created a colorful bulletin board with information on the history of this celebration and how it is celebrated in Mexico and the United States.

Additionally, they planned fun, educational events to commemorate the holiday. On May 3, Latin@s Unid@s invited everyone to watch a documentary about this historical day and join a Kahoot to create awareness about what Cinco de Mayo is really about. To top it off, on May 4, they handed out delicious traditional snacks and played festive music in the amp.
Student Spotlight

Shelby Bates '20 and Catherine Becker '19

Congratulations to Shelby and Catherine, who both won the Presentation Alumnae Scholarship.  Shelby and Catherine were selected based on their outstanding community service, how well they responded to the essay questions, and teacher or counselor recommendations.

All winners and their families were introduced to the Founders Club Members at the annual Thank You Tea, which took place at the Presentation Motherhouse in San Francisco.

"These young ladies are amazing students, who through their academics and community service embody the spirit of Nano Nagle and continue to represent the Presentation Family and The Sisters of St. Joseph," said the awarding group.

Sasha Williams '19

Sasha recently had the honor of presenting at The United State of Women Summit, a powerful gathering of women and allies.

Thousands of participants from across the country gathered for a momentous weekend. Along with eight other girls from around the nation, Sasha spoke about the work that they are doing.

"The United State of Women Summit was amazing!" Sasha said. "I had an amazing opportunity to speak on the main stage about the work the Young Women's Initiative is doing in the Bay Area and California.

The goal of the Young Women's Initiative is to include the voices and experiences of young girls of color who experience sexual violence. These girls are often left out of the conversation. I hope to use the research I'm doing to create legislative policies in schools, jobs, and communities to make a difference.

Stressed Out Kids: How Parents Can Help
by Sophie Corbett '19

"If you walk onto any high school campus and describe how the students are  feeling, the general consensus could be summed up in one word: 'stressed.' Being a high schooler is a full-time job. We go to school for eight hours, spend our afternoons participating in sports, clubs or other extracurricular activities, and stay up late trying to finish our homework, only to repeat this cycle again the next day. As a high school junior, this is the world I live in."
