Please pray for the pilgrims commissioned in worship last week as they travel to participate in the
2018 Mosaic of Peace Conference in Israel & Palestine
through the Peacemaking Office of the PC(USA). These pilgrims from the OPC family include - Janet Ziegler, Amir Zahoor, Greg Hughes, Angela Trubceac, and Pastor Lawrence.
As they walk among the ancient stones of the Holy Land, they will also learn from the “living stones” as the people of the region are described by Palestinian archbishop, Elias Chacour. In Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth, they will meet Israelis and Palestinians from all walks of life. They dialogue with Jewish Rabbis, Palestinian Pastors and Imams. They will engage with those who seek its peace and share these stories upon our return. Please pray for them and follow their journey at

Miami University Collegiate Chorale

The Miami University Collegiate Chorale will present its Spring Concert “Our Here and Now” on today and Saturday, April 27-28, 2018 at 7:30pm in Kumler Chapel. A diverse selection of repertoire will be performed in three sets, “Sacred Music for a Sacred Space”, “Love in Bloom”, and “Folk Songs from Africa”.

Hello friends!
My name is Ashley Boyle, I’m a sophomore architecture major at Miami, and on most Sundays, I sing in the front row of the choir. While at Miami, I have been awarded a grant to pursue research about religious architecture in northern Spain. To complete this research, I’ll be hiking El Camino de Santiago this summer. While I was awarded this grant for academic reasons, I am also interested in the pilgrimage aspect of El Camino. I would love to include my church family in this journey.
Since the Camino is about 500 hundred miles, I hope to raise $500 for emergencies or any other contingencies. The average day of hiking is about 18 miles. I respectfully invite you to consider sponsoring me for a day or two or even more!
My hopes for telling the congregation about this pilgrimage opportunity are not only to ask for your prayer, support and encouragement, but also to use this as an experience to connect more deeply to the church.

Mary's Butterfly Walk and Bake Sale
Mary Perkins was diagnosed with a high grade, baseball sized brain tumor when she was just 2 ½ years old. Thus began her journey. During the past 12 years, she has endured four rounds of standard chemotherapy, eight months of maintenance chemotherapy, 15 surgeries, 30 radiation treatments, countless therapies and dozens of days in the hospital.
Saturday, May 13 Mary's family will participate in the 12 Annual Butterfly Walk for Cancer Free Kids. Please consider helping Faith Lutheran’s children raise money for Mary’s March on Sunday April 29, 2018, in their mini walk and bake sale. Mary will be selling handmade bracelets as well. 100% of the donations collected will be given to CCHMC specifically for pediatric cancer research.

2018 Puff Memorial Lecture
|
Over the past 50 years, American Christianity came to be dominated by the "Religious Right." Now demographic evidence suggests that this particular era is changing. On Friday, May 4 at 4:30 p.m. in 100 Art Building, Charles Mathewes will present the 2018 Puff Memorial Lecture in the Study of Christianity on "American Christianity after the Religious Right." Dr. Mathewes is a Senior Fellow at the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia.

May Friendship Day will be celebrated Sunday, May 6, 3 to 4: 30 p.m. at the Interfaith Center and the Haven at College at 16 South Campus. Janae Arno, Student Care Manager will be our speaker. The theme is
Reaching for Wholeness.
We will learn about ways we can support this program that is a national provider of substance use treatment and support services for college age young adults. All are welcome.

Per capita or per head… is a set amount of money per member that congregations contribute to the larger Presbyterian Church (USA). This per capita is used for the expenses of our PC (USA) mission co-workers, leadership development, new church development, and General Assembly meetings to name just a few.
We urge every member to give toward your per capita of $45.98. Your contribution not only connects you with the work of the church throughout the world, this also allows finances reserved in 2018 to fully cover our congregational per capita to be used instead to support the missions of the Oxford Presbyterian Church.

Our Faith in Action – One Snip at a Time
|
The Menaul School was founded in 1896 by Presbyterian minister Rev. James A. Menaul in the heart of Albuquerque. It was originally a Presbyterian mission boarding school for Spanish-speaking boys from Northern New Mexico. Today, Menaul serves young people of all faith backgrounds, grades 6 through 12 - boarding and day students, both international and domestic. Menaul School, although now independent of the Presbyterian Church (USA), remains grounded in the reformed Christian tradition and has gained a reputation for producing young people with excellent values, ethics, and moral character. Menaul accepts students from all cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds, and more than 70% of students are self-identified as individuals of racial or ethnic minorities. Fifty-two percent of our students receive financial assistance.
With the boxtop from many products in our kitchens, you may help provide financial assistance for a student at Menaul. Throughout the year, Oxford Presbyterian Women collect the boxtops and then send them off to the Menaul school where your few snips are transformed into a brighter future for student through education. Please place your boxtops into the specially marked envelop found in the office hallway.

Living Into Hope
Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime;
therefore we must be saved by hope.
Nothing which is true or beautiful or good makes complete
sense in any immediate context of history;
therefore we must be saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone;
therefore we must be saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of
our friend or foe as it is from our standpoint.
Therefore we must be saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.
