We celebrated the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven this week and we are grateful to Msgr. Connelly for celebrating Mass with us. What a wonderful message he brought to our students, reminding them that they are never alone and will always have a friend in Jesus.

Our annual Arts Night will be held next Thursday, May 17th from 6-7:30 p.m.  I hope you will be able to join us.  The evening is filled with the extraordinary talents of our students whether it be through the avenue of music or art.  This year it will be held in the gym and it truly is a night not to be missed.

Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms and grandmothers. Enjoy a nice weekend.

Peace,

Ann E. Dougal
Principal

From the Classroom of Mrs. Santos - Kindergarten

Happenings in KA

In September, I asked each student what they wanted to do most in kindergarten. The overwhelming response was science experiments. Over the year we have explored weather, states of matter, and the needs of living things.

Now that spring has finally sprung, we are investigating life cycles. This has been the most exciting exploration thus far. Every morning the children come in ready to use their magnifying glasses to see how their plants are growing and how their tadpole is changing.

Yes, we have a new class pet! He is a tadpole that the children have named Froggy. Metamorphosis is the new buzz word in KA.   We are watching how our tadpole is changing. He now has two back legs, and we are eagerly awaiting his front legs. At that point, he would be a froglet.

The children are using their new skill of creative writing to capture their view on how Froggy is growing. They are using their letter sounds to make words, and words into sentences. They are very proud of their ability to be "authors".

School Mass

Ascension Thursday Mass

We send our thanks to Msgr. Connelly from St. Michael's Cathedral for celebrating Mass with us today. His message of Jesus always being with us even though he is in heaven was an important reminder of how lucky we are.  Jesus's words, "I am always with you" tells us that He is only a prayer away.

And thank you to our 2nd grade students for doing a great job hosting the Mass!  We especially loved their song, "Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue."

 Field Trip

What a beautiful day the 6th and 7th grade students had for their field trip to the Boston Aquarium! Needless to say, everyone had a blast!

Mystic Aquarium Visits Pre-K 4

The PreK-4 students had some pretty cool visitors this week as the Traveling Teacher Program from Mystic Aquarium stopped by.

This hands-on opportunity offered our little preschool friends a valuable and exciting learning experience that encouraged students to make observations and ask questions. They were able to touch live horseshoe crabs and spider crabs and learn about how they survive in their environment. They also saw a puppet show with an octopus and whale!

  Food  For Thought

"In her voyage across the ocean of this world, the Church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life's different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship but to keep her on her course."
