The Student Research Symposium celebrates the vibrant intellectual life and learning at Luther. Classes are suspended for the symposium, Friday, May 11, to allow all community members to participate. The Symposium highlights the best fruits of the scholarship, research and creative activity of students from disciplines across the college. Professor Ramona Nelson will be giving the remarks at the Senior Recognition Convocation. Her talk is titled, "Will This Be On The Exam?

Root Beer Float Study Break - Take a break from finals studying and float on by to enjoy a cool treat and some company with friends. Join us out front of the Union (rain location inside) on Wednesday, May 16 starting at 3:30 p.m. (available until we run out) and receive a free root beer float courtesy of Counseling Service and Diversity Center.

Servant Grants  - Seniors who are planning on serving as a full-time volunteer for minimal or no compensation next year may be eligible to receive a Servant Grant from Luther College's student Congregation Council for support. If interested, please email [email protected] with a brief description of your placement and the organization you will service next year. Please reply by Sunday, May 20.
 
Seeking volunteer faculty, staff, students, and others to help with a potential Luther College Historic District designation. The requirements are enthusiasm for the college history and its buildings and some free hours between now and September 1, 2018.  Guidance/training will be provided. Some students may qualify for research/workstudy support. Contact project co-coordinators, Mark Z. Muggli, professor emeritus of English, or Ryan Engelman, assistant director of student activities.

At the culmination of their studies, Luther College senior art majors present a gallery exhibit of their collective works May 14-27 in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts.

Nobel Peace Prize Forum, September 14-15, Augsburg College : The Dean's Office provides funds for 20 students to attend the Forum, "The Paradox of Peace," honoring 2016 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, President Juan Manuel Santos of Columbia and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (2017). April Armstrong, CEO, AHA Insight, shares how AHA helps organizations succeed by   engineering the "people" side of success as much as the technical and business aspects with high-stakes projects and initiatives.She has worked with leaders at the White House, DOD, nonprofit organizations, and private sector organizations. The community is invited to an Interfaith Prayer Service marking the 10th Anniversary of the Postville Immigration Raid, Friday, May 11, 10:00 a.m, St. Bridget Catholic Church. Meet in front of Koren for van rides from Luther departing at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning. Vans will return to campus between 12:30-1:00 p.m.

Decorah Pride Festival 2018 - The Luther student congregation with other RIC congregations in Northeast Iowa are taking part in the Pride festival and walking in the parade on Saturday, May 12. Students that wish to participate are invited to meet in the CFL lobby at 12:20 p.m. to carpool together to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for a sign-making party.

The Diversity Center will have a Decorah Walmart shopping shuttle running from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 13 . This is open to all students and there is no charge, but reservations are requested, please register here . This will be the last shopping shuttle for this academic year.
