Mandatory Meeting + Rehearsals
Wind Ensemble Brings Home the Gold: Congratulations to Mr. James and the Wind Ensemble for their superior performance at the Con Brio Music Festival in Whistler! We are very proud of their focus during an inspired set featuring Lament for Wind Orchestra and Danzon No 2. The highest praise came from the legendary Dr. Paula Crider, who raved about Ballard both in our clinic and to the Festival faculty and staff afterwards. Bravo!
Thank you to our amazing team of chaperones: Barb, Martin, Loy, Jeff, Julie, Karen and Jen. Your commitment to these kids and the program is greatly appreciated.
Syttende Mai (17th of May) Parade and Rehearsals: A fun annual tradition, the Syttende Mai Parade is quickly approaching. Student permission slips and parade agreement forms are due by May 11th. The mandatory practices are as follows:
Tuesday, May 8th from 3:40-4:30
Wednesday, May 16th from 2:30-3:30
In addition, we need volunteers help with uniform check-out/check-in, as well as chaperones to walk the parade route with the band. This is a great opportunity for Symphonic Band parents to get involved! Call time is 4:00 pm. Water donations gladly accepted. Please contact Jen Witeck to volunteer today!
Essentially Ellington: There will be a MANDATORY meeting for Jazz 1 students and parents on Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:00 pm in the band room. We will discuss final trip details, the code of conduct, introduce our chaperones, and more.
The final cost for the 5-day trip for musicians is $1725. The package price includes airfare, ground transfers, 4-night hotel accommodations, festival activities and concerts, 4 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 4 dinners (2 at jazz clubs)!
To offset cost, we are pleased to announce students who participated in all of the fundraising activities, including Snap, will receive a scholarship of $819! Thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraisers to help make these scholarships possible so every Jazz 1 member could go to NYC!
Students will receive a notice with their specific trip balance, due Thursday, May 3rd. You may pay via check, or online for a small service charge. When paying online, scroll to the bottom of the Trip Fees page to the "Specific Amount" box and enter the total amount due. Thank you for your prompt attention to this final payment! Questions? C
