ADULT LEADER
UPDATES

June 21, 2018
Final Update!
The Planning Team and I arrived in Galveston today and have already had a full day! We met with the servant event partners this afternoon, and they are so excited to have you come. And my heart is full, thinking of the stories you and your young people will hear, and the transforming work you will be part of. Some of you will get to read stories with elementary students for a literacy project. Some of you will sort and pack food that will feed thousands in Galveston County. Some of you will help a school and a church get back into their building after Harvey. Some of you will get to paint buildings that serve vulnerable communities. Some of you will get to do landscaping that will restore pride in a neighborhood. All of you will hear stories of - and be stories of - God's Call, Grace, Hope, Love and how Jesus Changes Everything.

You are in our prayers as you get on the bus Saturday morning! You've got this - because God's got you...and THAT is what changes everything!

On the Journey together,
Catherine Anderson
Coordinator of Youth Ministry
Things to Download!

The Gathering App: This is one of the best tools you can have for the Gathering. Everything you needed to know in one place

The Gathering Guidebook: If you don't like using an app, this Guidebook can be printed and read ahead of time. Each Adult Leader will receive one with your wristbands.

Remind App: Be sure to sign up for Remind. Not sure if you are on or not? I sent out a text tonight as a test. If you didn't get it...you're not signed up!

Instant Church Directory: This lets you connect with other adult leaders on the Journey, and has pictures of (almost) all of you!
Things to Bring With You!

Copies of your Forms:
  • Synod Health and Release Form
  • ELCA Release Form (Youth and Adults)
  • ELCA Medical Form
  • Texas A&M Waiver
Carry the Synod and ELCA Forms with you. We suggest every leader have a set. At least one leader should have an original (full size) set, the other leaders could have smaller copies (shrunk to fit multiple on a page) or digital copies. Bring the Texas A&M Waiver with you, but you do not need to carry this with throughout the event.

Sheets, pillows, towels, blanket for Texas A&M...and adult leaders should bring air mattresses to make sure you can stay within our housing policy of not sharing beds with youth (unless they are your child) at the Wyndham.

Water bottle, sunscreen, bug repellant, hat (last I looked, the LOW while we are here is 81!)

Money or cards for your meals in Houston that are on your own.

Read through the packing list...and bring your hearts ready to grow, serve and love!
