Get Your Game On!
|
|
 Top of the list is acknowledging the hard work and focus of our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Year Students who have been taking the
SAS tests this week. Supported by staff during testing, and by volunteers who came in to provide fun and energized movement breaks, the students have done a great job making their way through the annual required standardized testing.
Special thanks to MFCS Parents, Ramon & Maura and to Ms. Catie and Ms. Devon for lending their exercise expertise to this week's body breaks. The kids had a blast dancing and moving...and even a few staffers joined in! We are scheduled to complete this testing period by early next week.
And while the bigger kiddos were testing, our other students have been working away, challenging themselves through practice, book groups and more! Our Lower Elementary Students are working on their upcoming
Annual Egg Drop Project (not the soup, the science project). This week they began preparation for this project that tests their hypotheses about how best to cradle the egg for the drop. Our Kinders took some exciting steps in their language acquisition with the introduction of the language box. This material helps them learn to recognize and spell
'CVC' words - simple consonant-vowel-consonant words.
Meanwhile, some of Ms. Mindy's writing groups have been
creating animals from clay
(see pic below) based on book research they conducted recently.

**TONIGHT**
 We are looking forward to an exciting
2019 Family Game Night tonight!
. This has been organized by MFCS Parent, Lauren D. Earlier this week, she met with some of our 6th Year Students who will be available tonight as Game Gurus. They will offer their game knowledge and assistance during the event. Game Night runs from 5:30-7:30pm; there is no cost to attend.
Come on over for fun, light snacks and a great community event.

Please help us keep our community healthy! Even though spring is slowly springing, there still seems to be a number of bugs impacting our students' and staff health. A reminder that children need to be free of
fever and vomiting for a full 24 hours before returning to school.
Please also keep in mind that if your child will need to take
medication at school, we require the following: please do not send the medication in the with the child - it must be brought in by an adult; the medication must be in its original packaging; if is a prescription, a note from the doctor must be provided as well. Non-prescription items must have the child's name written on the container (including cough drops) and directions for time and dosage. In all cases, you will need to complete and sign the Medications Form (you may request one from the front office). Thank you!

With several projects currently underway, we've had a few requests from teachers for some
Washable Tempera Paints. They are looking for a mixture of colors and thank you in advance for any you can donate!

This week also kicked off our first week of Calendar Raffle Prize selections. After recording all the sales, we are close to $10,000! Special thanks to the team who spent most of Monday morning registering each raffle participant and sorting through the accounting - Lisa, Gina, Rosie and Lauren. The Top Calendar Seller will win a Ben & Jerry's Gift Basket; the students who sold over 10 calendars will be entered into a drawing (1 entry per 10 calendars sold) and that prize is a robust Chunky's Gift Set.
If you have any more sales to make, please don't hesitate to go for it!
We have been getting in new sales every day, and simply add the new raffle entries to the big, green raffle box.
Each day a student selects that day's winner. Each winner is called either by Raffle Coordinator, Lisa Z, or by Ms. Jen, and winners are also posted on our school's public Facebook page.

 Basketball Clubs
with Ms. Alyssa
Join Ms. Alyssa as she introduces participants to the game's fundamentals such as ball handling, passing and shooting. Besides being Glacier's Assistant Teacher, Ms. Alyssa is also one of the Assistant Basketball Coaches of the SNHU Women's Team. This year she will be offering two clubs organized by age. No experience required!
3rd & 4th Year Students:

2019 Variety Show: Friday, May 10th

The
Second
Annual MFCS Variety Show will be held on Friday, May 10th. A flyer went home today with the details regarding the auditions, practice and dress rehearsal schedule, all of which will take place after April Break. Ms. Christine, Ms. Alyssa and Ms. Devon will be coordinators. We look forward to another GREAT event.

oin us on April 11th for our first ever MFCS Paint Night.
Who: Adults (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and adult family friends) from our community and
all MFCS Enrolled Students grades K-6.
K-3 Students will work in teams with their parents;
Upper Elementary Students may work independently.
ALL students must be accompanied by an adult.
What:
We will have 2 instructors walking us through the process of creating one of the two painting options, step-by-step. Enjoy snacks and beverages while you paint!
Cost: The charge is
$25 per painter which includes all materials.

It will be a great opportunity for our two schools to introduce NH's public to the 2 innovative public school options that serve our state's students.

Here's a chance to see our own
Ms. Cassie in concert! On April 13th at 7pm, she will perform a piano duo concert of Bach, Schubert, Dvorak and Piazzolla. The Concert will be held at the Candia Congregational Church, 182 High Street, Candia. Suggested donation for the concert of $10 will be accepted at the door by the venue.

April Art Camp at the Currier!
This April Vacation (April 22-26), the Currier will be offering week-long vacation camps. Morning, afternoon and full-day sessions are available for children ages 5-14. After camp is also available. All camps include a special tour of the museum! For more information, please visit:

 Spring Tennis Lessons in the Park
Spring and Summer Sessions designed for first-time tennis players will be offered by Coaches from NetGeneration. This program will use modified tennis balls, rackets and course sizes so players can learn to play the game in a stress-free atmosphere. Lessons will be held at
