Painting with Paper
Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
I'm excited to share this technique of painting and adding collage elements at the same time. I have been doing this for years - building layers of collage papers using gel medium, before painting. I like the added textures and incidental printed patterns that unexpectedly appear after I wipe away (reductive technique).
For this BobBlast - I have changed it up a bit! I made my own solid, pure color collage papers, using Holbein Artist Acrylic Paint, matching the ten colors on my Goof-Proof Color Wheel. I wanted pure color - right out of the tube!
I am working on some wall samples for my workshops - Kilimanjaro Watercolor Paper (from Cheap Joe's) - cut to 16x16 inches. These pieces are in stage #1 - I have started the painting and now, I am collaging the focal point color and the two spice colors from the painted collage papers that I described above.

I would not call myself a "collage artist" per se, but I use more than just paint when I create new work. Printed patterns are simply more tools that help me create visual surprises.
