Camarillo's
State of the City 2020
November 17, 2020
Dear Camarillo Community:

There's no question that we are living through history right now. And since we are not able to come together in person this year for the Annual State of the City, we’re doing something a little different. Given all the restrictions that COVID-19 has placed on us, we decided earlier this year to produce a video to inform the entire community on the City’s activities this year. The video, available on the City's website and Government Channel, showcases City employees who highlight their progress toward meeting the FY 2020/21 Council Goals & Objectives.

This year’s State of the City holds a special meaning for all of us because this year has been different in so many ways. To say 2020 has been challenging is an understatement. But, through it all, our community has remained strong, engaged and resilient. And, as a City Family, we have accomplished great things this year, due to the diligence, resilience, and perseverance of our Camarillo City employees.

Many individuals are hurting and our local businesses have been struggling to survive through the business closures due to COVID-19. And our City employees have been nimble, adjusting processes whenever possible to make it easier for our businesses to persevere throughout this pandemic.

This has been a long road, but we are determined to recover from this pandemic. Our City employees have pivoted in several ways: they have transitioned to virtual services; closed and then re-opened City Hall in the COVID-era, and developed a program to provide curbside pick-up for our Camarillo Library patrons while the library was physically closed to the public.

Our City employees have found new, creative ways to guide our community through this pandemic, including new communication tools to keep our community informed and updated. Let’s continue to work together to get through these tough times, and keep our community safe and thriving.

Camarillo City employees have set the example for our community in complying with state and local health orders. Wearing masks and establishing social distancing queues in the City Hall lobby and hand sanitizer stations, City staff is working to ensure optimal health and cleanliness during this challenging time. City employees continue to be diligent and purposeful in setting the tone for our community that, TOGETHER, we will get through this challenge and continue to serve the Camarillo community.  We ask that you continue to do your part and to follow public health orders.

We are still working through the COVID-19 pandemic. Although we thought we were moving forward, it appears given recent news that unfortunately we are reverting backwards and facing additional challenges until we can overcome this virus and move forward again. But despite these challenges, we are excited to share with you, the Camarillo community, what we nonetheless have accomplished this year, how we are weathering this storm, and what lies ahead as we stand together.

Respectfully,
Tony Trembley, Mayor
