'PIN' Is Back!

From Bobby Caliendo
Pastor of Outreach & Evangelism

The goal of the PIN (Person in Need) ministry is to "Share Christ and Meet Needs" over the holiday season. We desire to take gifts and/or services to members, neighbors, co-workers and friends while prayerfully looking for opportunities to share the gospel.

Three ways you can help
1)   Share a need  — Person in Need forms are available in BFGs and at church entrances. Fill out a form and return it to a PIN ministry desk, an elder or a BFG leader.

2)  Bring items  — Over the next several weeks you have opportunities to donate Thanksgiving items or purchase Christmas gifts for a family in need. Items needed will be stated in the church publications and at the Kingdom Corner “Giving Tree”.

3)   Volunteer  — Those desiring to deliver items to homes can sign up in your BFG, at the PIN desks, by calling the church office (386-672-1821), or by emailing me (click here ).

'Stockings of Grace'

Sarah's Circle is again doing its Christmas ministry, Stockings of Grace, over the next few weeks. They are giving Riverbenders an opportunity to help bless other folks who may not be having much of a Christmas.

Pictured here are some of the Stockings of Grace that were delivered last year to Riverbend's homebound members, as well as people at these housing facilities: Avante, Ormond in the Pines, Kozy Korner, Gold Choice and Atria.

How can you be involved? Bring some of these items and leave them in the marked bin at the southeast entry (near the Bookcart & restrooms):

  • 6-inch peppermint candy canes (need 200)
  • Little Debbie individually packaged little cakes (200)
  • Wrapped Christmas candy (200)
  • Chapstick (200)
  • Lance cracker packets (400)

They will mix these items with some others they have acquired to make a nice gift for lots of seniors.
Sarah's Circle members will assemble the items into the stockings at their meeting on Dec. 10. The stockings will be delivered on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Help make some older folks' Christmas a little brighter. Get in on the blessings that come from reaching into the lives of others.

Headed to Texas

Former Riverbend Pastor Kent Pletcher, who for the past four years has pastored First Baptist Church in Langdon, North Dakota, has accepted an invitation to become Senior Pastor at Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Melissa, Texas.

He asks Riverbenders to pray for a smooth transition at both places.

A 'Senior' Visit

These Riverbend children were among several who visited senior adults at The Gardens Health & Rehab facility during its annual Trunk-or-Treat event.

The children were from these families (not all pictured): Exline, Geddes, Kennedy, Robbins, Santos, Stephens.

From Valerie Santos (who furnished the photo): "It was such a fun event and a great joy for the residents to see all the kids in their costumes and to play games with them."
Sharon Nouchi is needing a ride up I-95 into North Carolina Nov. 26 or 27. If you are going that way and have a spare seat, please contact the church office (386-672-1821).
