Innocent, helpless children are being used for political gain by Donald Trump and the Republican party.
More than 2,000 children, as young as two-years-old, have been ripped from their parents at the border and held in detention camps. By July, that number could rise to 30,000 despite the GOP immigration "compromise" plans and Trump's executive order. There are no plans to reunite these children with family members.
According to the American Psychological Association, traumatic events that these children are experiencing at the border can lead to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health disorders that can cause long lasting effects.
The Administration's inhumane immigration policy is counter to our Jewish American values. As a Jewish community, we understand these immigrants' strong desire to escape persecution in their homeland, at great risk, to build a better life for their families.
Trump's insensitivity to children was further underscored this week. The GOP pushed passage of a Farm bill, which cuts the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This will be catastrophic for the 16 million children who rely on this program to help meet their basic food needs. Reducing poverty and providing access to the basics such as food, housing, and medical care is critical to the well-being of children.
We have a moral obligation to stand up for those that cannot.

Speaker Ryan's bill would:
- Offer harmful policies disguised as fixes
- Continue the separation of families at the border
- Hold Dreamers hostage in exchange for Trump's border wall and anti-immigration demands.
Make your voice heard now. Tell the House and Senate we object to these cruel fake fixes to our immigration system. We demand a true bipartisan immigration reform package, the reunification of those families already separated, and an end to the current zero-tolerance policy.

Hamas Paid Family of 8-Month-Old to Say She Died During Gaza Border Clashes
Hamas paid the family of an 8-month-old baby to say she died during clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops, a family member said. Mahmoud Omar, 20, told Israeli investigators that his 8-month-old cousin Layla al-Ghandour died of a blood disease, the same disease the baby's brother died from a year earlier. The death of the baby inflamed Palestinian passions and led to a deluge of condemnation against Israel for what critics call its heavy-handed response to the border protests.

Joint Action Committee for Political Affairs (JACPAC) is a pro-Israel PAC with a domestic agenda. We support a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and advocate for reproductive health and the separation of religion and state and incorporate other issues of importance to the Jewish community, including gun violence prevention and climate change. In addition to providing financial support for U.S. Senate and House campaigns, JACPAC educates our membership with outreach events designed to inform and activate their participation in the political process.
