Greetings!

Every quarter, we draft up, design and create printed newsletters to provide in-depth information to our donors. These newsletters include a Dollars & Sense section, which discusses the monetary impact relating to the topic. This past year, we wrote about the introduction of the United Way Express, Innovation and how it helps our community grow and prosper, the Rural Communities in our service area, and the success of our Campaigns.

Our first newsletter for this year is about each of our stories and why we collectively choose to give where we live.

We all have a story that makes us who we are and how it connects us as United Way donors or volunteers. We introduced four new Community Investment Council (CIC) members and we share with you the process that the CIC members go through when they decide on which programs to fund with your donations.

Our first quarterly newsletter is now available online to read. To read the newsletter, or any of our previous quarterly newsletters, click the button below.
Thank you to our volunteers!
The official value of volunteer work for 2017 is $24.69/hour — an increase of more than 2 percent from the previous year. While nonprofits are known for engaging folks to read with children, deliver meals, or beautify a neighborhood, the real impact of volunteering is its ability to bring diverse groups of people together for a common cause. Volunteering keeps us grounded, it connects us to our community and provides us with a way to give back to our communities.

Don't believe us? Here's what our ReadingPals Coordinator and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Coordinator think about the impact of their volunteers:

"ReadingPals volunteers are the most compassionate and committed volunteers I know. Their consistency and dedication is the strength of the ReadingPals culture and the reason our students have such an incredible experience in the program." - Rahkiah Brown, ReadingPals Coordinator.

"The VITA program would not be able to function successfully without the volunteers. These volunteers are the backbone of the program. Volunteers give their free time to help people in the community by filing their taxes for free. They also keep spirits up by helping some people over their fear of filing their tax returns. Volunteers expect nothing in return and that's why they're amazing." - Marilyn Taylor, VITA Coordinator.
