Training Spotlight
Emergency Preparedness Table Top Exercise
Thursday, November 8, 2018
On Thursday, November 11, 2018, local community health centers participated in a scenario-based tabletop exercise sponsored by DCPCA. This exercise afforded the opportunity for representatives from health centers to engage in a facilitated discussion to assess preparedness, response coordination, continuity of care service delivery, and medical surge. The exercise was facilitated by Alexander Lipovtsev, Director of Emergency Management, of the Community Healthcare Association of New York State (CHCANYS).

The exercise focused on internal and external emergency communications and recovery, with the overall goal to develop a framework to strengthen capabilities. The exercise was composed of three phases that were time-specific as scenario-based threats/hazards progressed. Within each phase, health centers discussed their roles and identified potential deficiencies and solutions.

We thank the following health centers for their participation: Community of Hope, Elaine Ellis, Family and Medical Counseling Services (FMCS), La Clinica Del Pueblo, Mary’s Center, Metro Health, So Others Might Eat (SOME), Whitman-Walker Health, and Unity Healthcare. In addition to health center participation, members of the DC Health-Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Administration (HEPRA) were also present in support of the exercise.
