Schwerman Road Resurfacing Project
Schwerman Road is planned to be resurfaced from Fairfield Road to Gilmer Road starting May 14, 2018. The scope of the project includes ribbon, curb and shoulder replacement where needed, the full removal and replacement of the asphalt for the entire length of the project and pavement markings. Traffic will be open in both directions with a flagger directing traffic through the area being worked on. The resurfacing of the road is expected to be completed in July.

This project is occurring as a result of Hawthorn Woods’ application for federal grant assistance. At the Village’s request, Hawthorn Woods and Fremont Township worked together to request the reclassification of Schwerman Road to a Federal Aid Urban Route, which allows the Village and Township to request federal funding, up to 80% of construction and construction engineering. The Village and Township were successful in the reclassification, as well as securing the funding for the project. The Village is receiving over $300,000 in federal funding for the Village’s portion of this improvement.
Please contact the Village’s Public Works Department at 847.540.5227 with any questions or concerns regarding this project.
