Tomorrow is Election Day. Vote!
Today, Monday, Nov. 5, is the last day of early, in-person voting in Ohio. The Clermont Count Board of Elections, 76 S. Riverside Drive, Batavia, is open from 8 a.m. -2 p.m. for voting.
Tomorrow -- Tuesday, Nov. 6 -- is Election Day. Vote at your precinct from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Auditor's Office begins digital imaging project
|
As part of its six-year reappraisal process, the Clermont County Auditor's Office has hired Tyler Technologies to provide detailed, high-resolution street-level images of properties throughout the county.
Tyler Technologies’ field staff will photograph properties throughout the county from customized white vans that are marked with signs indicating that they are conducting an imaging project for the county. All personnel have photo ID badges as well. The project began on Oct. 15 and will continue into February 2019.
“The countywide reassessment process is an in-depth review of every property in the county,” said Clermont County Auditor Linda L. Fraley. “Tyler Technologies will provide our county with accurate up-to-date property images and data so that our reviewers have the best information available to them to make an assessment that serves constituents fairly and equitably.”

Veterans Day Parade
The American Legion Veterans Day Parade will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Village of Batavia.
Lineup will begin at 1 p.m. at Baxla Tractor, 610 W. Main St., Batavia. At 1:30 p.m., a presentation will be held on the Common Pleas Courthouse steps in downtown Batavia, and feature a proclamation from Clermont County Commissioners and a patriotic medley of songs. At 2 p.m., the parade will begin at Baxla and proceed into downtown Batavia.
Blood drive Nov. 9
On Friday, Nov. 9, a blood drive sponsored by the Clermont Veteran Services Commission will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at 101 E. Main St., in front of the County Administration Building.
And enjoy a free hotdog from Baxla Tractor!

Get your flu shot!
This flu season marks the 100 year anniversary of the deadliest flu season in modern history. The flu pandemic of 1918 killed more than 50 million people worldwide, and about 675,000 Americans.
While we can never predict when the next pandemic will occur, you can do your part to keep healthy by getting your seasonal flu shot. Septic rehab applications
Clermont County Public Health is now taking applications for the 2019 septic rehab program. The program helps low-income homeowners pay to repair or replace broken septic systems.

More than 60 volunteers turned out on Oct. 13 to collect mussels as a low-head dam was breached on the East Fork of the Little Miami River in the Village of Williamsburg. The dam is being removed to return the stream to its natural state. More than 500 mussels were collected; most were moved upstream but some were moved to the Mill Creek in Hamilton County to help replenish extinct mussel populations. Well done, folks!

Commissioners recently proclaimed November Adoption Awareness Month. Tim Dick, Assistant Director, Children's Protective Services, noted that in 2018, 20 children that have been in Clermont County's care will be adopted with their Forever Families. Fifteen families have stepped up. That is so awesome!
Even more remarkable, four of those children are 17 years old, close to emancipation. To be connected to a permanent family at that age can absolutely change a life.
Tim noted that 25 percent of kids in the care of Children's Protective Services are 15 years old or older. Those are the hardest kids to place ... and yet, a Forever Family can mean so much to them.
Currently, Clermont County has 18 children in its care that are looking for a permanent family. If you want to find out more, please go to

Commissioners raise per diem rates for therapeutic foster care
Clermont County Commissioners recently approved an increase to the per diem rate for therapeutic foster care children.
The rate increased from $40 per day to $60 or $70 per day, depending on the number of children in the foster care home.
Children who are considered to be therapeutic demonstrate behavior that is considered from moderate to high risk, and may require psychiatric treatment.

Make a child's holiday brighter!
Every year, generous sponsors in Clermont County contribute to Children’s Protective Services’ Community Toy Chest during the holidays. Last year, YOU made the holidays brighter for about 300 children in the care of CPS.
We are asking again this year, would you be interested in sponsoring a child, siblings, or a family? The ages range from infancy to 18 years old. Each child has a list of what they want and what they need, and that will be provided to you.
Individuals, families, and organizations such as
businesses and churches are invited to sponsor.

Make a senior's holiday brighter!
Each December, the Adopt a Senior program at Clermont Senior Services brings holiday cheer to over 600 older adults in our community!
The process is simple:
- Call Senior Services' Volunteer Coordinator to be matched with a gift recipient.
- You will receive a “wishlist” of items the recipient needs/wants. This list is only a suggestion. Many of the items requested are everyday items we often take for granted.
- You purchase and wrap gifts for your recipient.
- You drop off your wrapped gifts to one of our drop-off locations and our volunteers will deliver them in December.

Native Cultures and Traditions: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, Hartman Log Cabin. Learn about practices and traditions of Ohio’s woodland Indian tribes through activities, demonstrations and short guided hike. Free.
Winter Lecture Series: From Farm to Table – 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, Pattison Park Lodge. Hear about self-sufficient options for living off your land, presented by Christine Tailer, who lives on an off-the-grid farm where she and her husband have built everything themselves. She offers first-hand experiences in seed starting, gardening, farming with antique machinery, animal husbandry, beekeeping, gathering wild edibles and more. Free.
Stargazing at Shor: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, Shor Park. We’ll take a short walk around the park, look for constellations and learn more about these giant balls of gas. Free.

How do you get
emergency warnings?
In weather emergencies, advance warning can save lives. It's important to have multiple means of receiving alerts and to know what actions to take when warnings are issued.
A NOAA all hazard weather radio, siren warnings, and personal notfications through your smart phones are three ways to keep informed.
And remember, on the first Wednesday of every month, Clermont County tests its emergency sirens at noon.
Public meeting on hazard plan
Clermont County is in the process of updating its All-Hazard Mitigation Plan, which must be updated every five years in order for the county and participating communities to remain eligible for pre-disaster and post-disaster mitigation grant programs.
The public is invited to participate in this process. A public meeting will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Clermont County Engineer’s Office, 2381 Clermont Center Drive, Batavia.
