MIDDLE SCHOOL SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK
 Dear Middle School Parents,

Since the founding of the middle school, Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) has been an important time in the spiritual formation of our students as we seek to grow in our understanding of the most powerful and foundational truth for all believers-Jesus' resurrection. SEW, or Holy Week, holds such value that we dedicate time each day for chapel, worship, response opportunities, and extended time within homeroom. It is our prayer and hope that students encounter Jesus in a unique way as they link their lives to Him and to the power of the Gospel.

This year, Spiritual Emphasis Week will spread across five days beginning Monday, 4/8 then continuing Monday, 4/15 through Thursday, 4/18. Our SEW theme aligns to this year's theme, HIS. Throughout the week, we will seek to build a greater understanding of what it means to be HIS as we focus on: HIS Promises, HIS Sacrifice, HIS Way, HIS Hope, and HIS Victory. For a sneak peek into the week, check out our intro video below.

We believe time should be carved out during Holy Week to slow down, remove distractions, and quiet ourselves so that we can learn, listen, and reflect on what Jesus has done for us, what He wants to do in us, and what He wants to do in the world with us. We believe this is so important that, this year, we will not just devote time each day for SEW, but have also designated this as "UNPLUG to PLUG IN" week (4/15-18). During this week, we will unplug from the use of electronic devices including the use of school iPads both at school and at home. Not only will we unplug from electronics, but teachers have also committed to making this a week with no homework and no assessments. Yes, you read that correctly... no electronics, no homework, and no assessments for all of Spiritual Emphasis Week! While we are sure unplugging will be excitedly welcomed, we want to make sure students and families understand the purpose for "unplugging" is so that we can "plug in" to God, family, and friends. We want to allow the space and time during the week for reflection, discussion, and connection. We ask that your family consider joining us in pursuing more of God and more connection with each other. Parents are invited to attend chapel during the week which will begin at 8:00 each day with the exception of Wednesday at 9:00. Please join us in praying over this time, unplugging from electronics, then plugging in to seek more of Jesus during this Holy Week.

In Him,

Heather Harrison
